Not a respectful thing for a mom to do , but if she is rude about it and making you feel bad about it , then you should talk to her about it and let her know how it makes you feel , and if she can’t accept it , that is her problem not yours. Some parents’ overstep their boundaries with their kids’ and then they wonder why their kids want nothing to do with them anymore. So if your Mom can’t accept
You for who you are , then you have every right to no longer invest your time into your Mom whatsoever until she apologizes for her rude remarks. You’re an adult now so your Mom should learn to be respectful to you and not knock you down or belittle you in anyway. Your mom probably assumes she is doing you a favor by questioning your clothing but little does she realized she isn’t doing you any favors whatsoever. So definitely have a respectful talk with her and stand your ground and make her realize what she is doing is wrong

Okay before opening this question and seeing only the title I was assuming the person asking this would be like...16 or even a possible 17 or 18 but definitely not 48.

By this point in life you're more than old enough to have started a family, have your own house, have a long stable successful career, your own car, etc.

Why would your mom be questioning anything at all in general about you?

At your age a lot of people's parents have already died.

Not trying to be rude or call you old in an offensive way and I wouldn't really call 48 old in general but definitely way too old for your mom to be questioning your clothing choices.

At age 48 I am going to say no. I think by then she should just let you wear what you want and accept it. What are you wearing that is so questionable at your age is what I am wondering.

She is your mom though and moms be moms like that. I don't ever think mine has made mention of what I wear, but then again I don't wear anything that is really out there or shows a ton of skin so to speak.

Well I hope that it would be for you because I look at your age and your mom is probably 30 years older so she's getting up there at age and this is a way a form for her to express that she loves you and that she cares for you whether it's wrong or right doesn't really matter it's what you get out of it that is the most important because you both get a little bit more time together

You might not like it today or appreciate it today but one day you will miss it and you will miss her

The second she starts, you say "Mom, please stop criticizing my clothes." If she continues, interrupt her and change the subject. After that you say "I asked you to stop. Now I'm leaving."

If she ask positive. I think so.  If she want dictate than not okay at all. If she supportive then absolutely okay. If she encourage and endorse your choice then you must pay attention to her. My girlfriend's mum is supportive to my girlfriend outfit fashion, not only that, but she encouraging her to wear revealing revealing outfits publicly
