I slipped on a wet metal plate that connected a ramp to a boat dock at work this morning, and I fell flat on my back really hard. It was so loud that a guy on a boat 100 ft away said "holy shit! are you all right, man?" Thinking about how hard I fell and how fast, somebody could have died. I just walked away with a skinned elbow.

Dude! A fall that hard has consequences and you may not yet be aware but that doesn't mean that you weren't injured. Did this happen as part of your job, or was this on your personal time?
I was working but it was outside of our premises, on the property of the shopping center. They are negligent in their maintenance, and did not make the ramp connector plate slip resistant by applying a new coat of whatever the stuff is they use to keep people from slipping on it. It's just bare metal.
You are going to have problems later. You need to consult an attorney and an orthopedist or neurosurgeon.
Riddle me this, Batman- let's say in few days something is wrong with my back. Would that be a workers comp issue or would it be the responsibility of the shopping center\property owner who was negligent?
Both. W/C is on the hook for anything connected to your work and you don't need to prove fault. They are obligated to cover your medical treatment and a portion of your salary for any missed time from work. And those benefits are paid fairly quickly. You can still pursue the property owner; you are not held to making an election between the two. The property owner, if at fault, is on the hook for much more, but it will take longer to make them pay.
Thanks man
Maybe get yourself a pair of boat shoes? We wear those specifically to keep this kind of stuff from happening on boats which would cause us to fall overboard. Possibly. They are not 100% effective of course, but they're probably better than what you're wearing now. You could have been really badly hurt in this incident. I'm glad you weren't.
I have a pair of Skechers shoes that are really slip resistant but they are beat. I got a replacement pair which are a little fancier and they said "steady grip" on the bottom of them, and were supposed to be slip resistant. they were not. I felt so hard on my arm that it turned purple all the way to the other side. I had it x-rayed a couple days ago. My friend who x-rayed it said "man that arm is not breaking, look at those bones" haha
My gosh are you ok? The question here is are you alright? Did you go to the doctor? Yes I has my bad luck time two years ago. I seriously hope you are alright.
Yes, thank you. I'm at work right now
