Do you like summer?

I have mixed feelings about summer. Living in a tourist location on the Mediterranean coast means we get the downside of tourism: crowded beaches in the 2 busiest months, difficulties to park, to go shopping... the normal population of the small town I live in can multiply by a factor of 3.

It's very different to spend holidays vs. working in a location. So we locals actually prefer the months of May and June, and again September. The weather is still nice, but most of the tourist 'invasion' is over.

Yes, mostly because I don't live in Chicago anymore, where the Summers suck, due to overcrowding, all the revenue raising theme festivals, concerts and sporting events, NASCAR and of course, all the carheads and party maniacs racing through the streets at all hours of the night.

Summer is alright, but it's actually at the bottom of my list of seasons. I think that is the case because (in order of most to least favorite) in Autumn we get cooling temperatures, spiced drinks, and can reconnect with our inner child through Halloween. In Spring we get new growth, mild weather, and a sense of a positive future. In Winter, we get to snuggle under as many blankets as we want, can go out an play in the snow (inner child again), and enjoy hot chocolate. In Summer, we can go swimming, take long trips, and see lots of people out enjoying themselves showing plenty of skin. ;-)
