Natural bug spray isn’t working

Not one chemical. Repellants.

• Permethrin on your clothing. One treatment can last up to 6 weeks and/or 6 trips through a washing machine. Just spray it on and let it dry. Once dry it is bonded to the fabric. Not a repellant. An insecticide. They die almost instantly when they touch it. Can be used on tents, shoes, socks, sleeping bags, backpacks. Breaks down on skin too fast to be useful for that. I buy it by the gallon in a 0.5% concentration, about $48 on Amazon.
• Picaridin on your skin. Derived from the Chrysanthemum flower. A replacement for 1950's era DEET. Picaridin was developed in the 1990's. Will not destroy synthetic fabrics or plastics like sunglasses like DEET. Doesn't stink as bad. Not as slimy. Lasts up to 8 hours depending on environment. I buy a 20% concentration. Expect to pay about $20 for 8 ounces of lotion.

I've used this combination all over the planet in all kinds of environments (jungles, swamps, rain forests, temperate forests, mountains, deserts) with all sorts of mosquito and tick transmitted diseases. Also repels or kills ticks, black flies, green head flies, deer flies, and chiggers. This is the best protection currently available to civilian consumers.

Well if I am camping or hiking I always wear long pants and long sleeves... still a good bug spray helps. I swear buy Deep Woods Off. It seems to do the job as well as i could expect. No matter what i still expect some bites though.

Oh up here in Canada they can be very ferocious. Still mosquitos are nothing compared to black flies...

Oh yes Ticks are a huge hazard. But I camp mostly up north where they are less dangerous.

I make my own in 16oz squirt bottle.
Lavender oil (5 drops)
Eucalyptus oil (5 drops)
Tea tree oil (only one drop or this can be toxic)
and peppermint oil if you want it too (5 drops)

There was a light device in our house that burned the flies, apart from that We also use lavender oil and peppermint oil on our body to keep them away.

Also, mosquitoes are attracted to smell. And not the good kind. So sweat attracts them because the bacteria on your skin eats the sweat and then it farts… which creates body odor

Bacteria is also in our digestive tract. We fact because that’s the collective gas that the bacteria creates from consuming what it consumes.

🤣 Yeah, I didn't mean odor. I just meant the scent of your sweat that attracts mosquitos. Supposedly everyone has sweet scent that mosquitos like in thier sweat makeup. And some people are sweeter than others which is why some get bit a lot, while others hardly at all
