Are the mosquitoes terrible where you are?

I woke up with like 10 bites. Im miserable and can barely move my left arm without it hurting. Some creatures have no purpose but to be assholes of nature and the mosquito is top of that list.

New England is a wet climate. Have a lot of standing water and shady forests during warm weather. So the little bastards thrive here. Along with black flies and ticks and deer flies. Luckily I have very little reaction to mosquito bites. They're gone in 5 minutes with minimal itching.

Im scared of ticks cuz they carry more deadly diseases.

Yup, ticks carry Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, etc.

But mosquitoes can be deadly too. Not so much where I live but worldwide. Malaria, Dengue Fever, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, West Nile Virus, Yellow Fever, etc.

Pro tip from someone who has spent a lot of time in tropical jungles all over the planet.

Permethrin - For your clothing. Provides up to 6 weeks or 6 washings of protection from mosquitoes and ticks plus other biting insects.

Picaridin - For your exposed skin. Doesn't smell as bad as DEET. And doesn't destroy synthetic clothing or plastic sunglasses / eyeglasses like DEET. Also not as greasy / slimy as DEET.

Not in my immediate area... its in a city... but a 1 hour drive north and they can be terrible. But go another 1 hour north and its black flies which makes mosquitos seem like tiny teddy bears. Its just a fact of life to deal with them if you enjoy the outdoors where i live.

When I go up north to go camping you basically have to spray on the DEET and wear long pants and long sleeve shirts... otherwise its a feeding frenzy for bugs. But you still get bit. Its takes a lot of will power to not scratch and make em worse...

I am not certain about that. The products I use have a long history of use with no reported ill effects... I hope lol

I haven't run into any mosquito this year yet here in Florida, but in June the rains will pick up. They will be here soon enough.

Florida mosquito season is basically the same as hurricane season here. It runs from the start of June through the middle of October.
