Sadly yes, especially the way society tends to romanticizes youth. The younger you are, the nicer people treat you and the more indulgent and understanding they are toward your mistakes. It has been established by studies that good-looking individuals receive more favorable treatment and social opportunities for advancement than less-attractive individuals (now this doesn't mean that older people are ugly, however in our shallow, ageist world, ageing is treated like a disease. The only exception is, if you're in the minority of the rich, famous and privileged, or some Nobel prize laureate

Depends how you mean that. Physically? Mentally? Emotionally? Financially?

I was unbreakable till about 45. Then it's like somebody flipped a switch. If I dwelled on it I'd probably get depressed. So I always try to look forward. And look at the positive and try to build on that. You can never know what life is going to throw at you. But you have complete control on the manner in which you respond to it.

Life ain't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

Yes and no.

They are more apt to deal with health problems and achy joints and they if they haven't taken good care of their health all their lives it can be rough.

They have most likely acquired a lot of assets, they've paid off their homes, they've accumulated wealth and been saving and investing for many decades so financially many older people are more well off than when young.

Depends how you spend your life before you get old. If you waste it id say yea probably being old will suck. If you stack your deck right, i feel like getting old life gets easier. I guess we will find out.

In countries with a lower respect for eachother, where religion is looked down upon, where materialism is more prevelant and where there are other issues like political polarisation I think there is less respect for elderly people.

Its common courtesy to be nice to old people but if common courtesy is gone so is our respect for the elderly.

Not really, I don't know what you consider old.

I guess health issues, you aren't as bendy as you used to be, but you probably have more free times, you can be retired, be more financially set, get to travel more, not have to go to work on Mondays.

No. You work your ass off when you're younger to set yourself up financially and coast later in life. Life gets better and easier every year

It is when you start to lose your mental and physical faculties. Not that I've experienced that personally, but I've seen the sad decline of others, to the point where they couldn't take care of themselves.

Yes. As you age your body naturally begins to breakdown and the recovery the body once had in the youth is permanently gone.

ALS. Eventually you become totally paralyzed but your brain still functions. Unlike Cancer , nobody ever gets cured. Finally you die.
