I used to feed them and watch them eat or pet them, in a few cases they started following and I'd eventually just bring them home and put them up for adoption.

Nowadays I'd just feed them and walk away whilst they're still eating. Vet bills, cat food, litter and toys aren't cheap 🤣. I don't really like cats that much to begin with and they would end up being with me for a couple of months before somebody decides to adopt.

I found a cat around my alley
I already had a cat but my little brother wanted one, so we fed it treats till it got to the house
Then gave it food and water.
I put him in a carrier
I tried to call a pet shelter to make sure he was healthy before letting him in the house.
However they weren't open, so I called animal protection just to see if it was a runaway because it looked so calm eating.
They fussed me out over the phone for feeding him and told me to release it and let it fend for itself.

I was sad and cried because I couldn't bring it in with my other cat and people are so mean to cats.
Turns out 2 days later my neighbor (not direct)
was looking for the cat, but it was already too late
