When someone lies to you, do you call them out or let them dig their own hole?

Fortunately for me, none of my friends would ever lie to me or at least I don't think they ever would and same with my immediate family.

That's all who matters in my circle for me to care. But if they did ever lie to me, I know it's for a good reason and to protect my feelings.

People that I am acquainted with on here or in the real world, I don't care that much if they are lying to me. I know at least two people on here that are catfish and I choose to be their friend anyways. It doesn't really matter to me. What matters is if the lie will affect me in a big way that will only hurt me in the end.

No one has ever done that to me and I don't think they ever would.

When I was little my dad told me a story that stuck with me:

One day a farmer had his best pig stolen but he did not tell anyone.

A few weeks later he was leaning on the fence chatting with his neighbor when the neighbor casually asked, "Hey, did you ever find out who stole your pig?"

The farmer replied, "I did now."

People lie about the most trivial stuff sometimes and I may I just think it’s funny or pathetic that they would lie about it and just let them have it because it’s just not worth anything to me to call them out , you know the ones where they are trying to make themselves out to be better than they are ?

But when it’s one of THOSE people who are all self righteous and holier than thou I absolutely call them out on it , can’t go past an opportunity like that. Mostly I will just judge the situation , company and the person dependent on the scale of the lie.

I don't usually call someone out on it. But sometimes it's really obvious they're lying. I don't know what reason they have to lie other than to inflate their own ego. The person I know who lies a ton, does it thinking I have an elevated opinion of them, when in reality (because I know they're lying, it's the opposite)

Both. I'll call them out or let them dig their own hole depending on the situation. Sometimes lies can't be allowed to go unchallenged. Sometimes strategy is better served by letting the lies accumulate and then destroying the person's credibility in one huge avalanche of evidence.

Yes is sucks some times but I let them lie. To think they got away with it but people that truly know me they know I know the truth they will start to lie they get half way through it. And giggle and say just joking

But then start another lie lol

I have 1 friend everything out of his mouth is a lie he's been doing it for years. And just about everyone that know him let's him get away with it and to be honest he's not mu h if a friend any more

Context matters. As the results show on the vote. I'll call someone out if they gaslighting me. But if they telling a little lie to feel good or soothe themselves I might just smile and let it go. Basically a person can lie to themselves but don't try force me to believe a lie and accept something not true that effects me or perceptions of me!

It depends on who it is. For some I'll call them out immediately, some I'll let them talk and see how deep they dig their hole, and for others, I'll document everything until the time is right, usually to release it to someone with authority over them

It depends on who is it and the context. On a website like this, it is super obvious. In the real world, it can be difficult if you don't know the person or the actual lie itself.

Depends. Most of the time, I try to keep a lower profile and let things work their way out. The one exception is if I am DIRECTLY effected or if my ETHICS are called into question.
