Here's a quiz question for Thinking Thursday... How many days in a non-leap year have approximately 24 hours in them? Correct answer will be given in a few days (Saturday).

All days. The leap year is a distraction as it has nothing to do with earth rotating on its axis and is to do with how long it takes to rotate around the sun which is approx 365.25 solar days.

As to the length of a day and how many hours therein it depends on how you define day. That could be from zenith to zenith in which case both the earth's rotation on it's axis and around the sun is significant. Those days vary by a few seconds but the average is exactly 24 hours.

The time it takes to rotate 360 degrees is the sidereal day and it is 4 minutes shorter than 24. It does vary as well since the earth axis wobbles and various things change the earth's mass distribution which has an affect. The goddamn Chinks are deliberately slowing down the earth with their dams.

BUT we haven't defined approximately. I think near enough is good enough - much the same as I think a girl & boy have met when they are in groping distance of each other.

363 because for two of the days, there is a time change which either ads or subtracts one hour.

365 days would technically have 24 hours. If we were answering “How many days have exactly 24 hours?” the answer in a DST ~ observing region would be $365 - 2 = 363$.

Unless I'm missing something here, I'd say that there are no days that have approximately 24 hours in them, during leap years, nor non-leap years.

All of them have a full 24 hours.
It takes 365.25 days per year for the Earth to make a complete circuit around the Sun but we just CALL IT 365 days until the 4th year when a full day has been added to the 4 circuits to keep it accurate so the Earth is in the same starting position every 4 years It's kind of a reset.
