I accidentally stepped on her paw a couple times. but I always tried to comfort her afterwards and told her I was sorry. Once or twice it happened on my way to bed at night. she always liked to stay near me and, at the same time, if she was sound asleep, I'd try not to wake her up so, I'd turn out the lights because I can usually get around quite well in the dark and I accidentally mis-judged where she was and stepped on her paw so, after that, even if she WAS sound asleep when I shut the lights out, she'd suddenly wake up and move away from where she was laying which was actually kinda stupid because, after she moved, I had no clue where she was and had a much greater chance of stepping on her!

About four months ago, our dog had an injury on his paw, from my wife accidently closing our screen door on it. We took him to the vet and he just had a little cut, it was fine but tender. About three days later, I was going out of town for work, I gave the wife and daughter a kiss goodbye and saw my best friend, with tail wagging, so I reached down to pick him up and say goodbye and got the biggest yelp I ever heard! But he was so cool about it. I hugged him and said I was sorry, while he licked my hands with his tail still wagging. That's all I thought about for the three days I was gone!

That's never happened to me! I did get bitten by my in-law's enormous dog the first time I tried to pet him. There's no visible scar, but that nail is always the first to chip.

We have three cats. Two are 6 month old kittens - brother and sister - who tend to be under foot a lot. The last time I hurt a pet was when I accidentally stepped on one of their paws or tail and they let out a screech. But they weren't hurt, thank goodness, and they forgave me.

I really cannot think of a single time I hurt a pet/ . I had two cats. One was killed by a coyote and the other lived to be more than 20 years old.
