Is it now a thing to tip for carryout orders?

I see provisions to tip on the point of sale terminal. It always used to be you did not tip when you were just grabbing carryout. Has something changed?

I don't tip for carryout orders, and I specifically write "carry out" or "pick up" on the gratuity line of the receipt.

Tipping is supposed to be a reward to the wait staff for good service. If I'm not dining in, there is no wait service being provided. I'm not tipping someone just because they pushed a couple of buttons on a register.

Their employer already pays them for that work, and cashiers are not tipped employees.

@dudeinohio I have even seen a massage therapist complaining about a $10 tip for a $75 massage. Unreal. She actually had the audacity to complain about my tip not being enough. Tipping is optional, it's not mandatory. She thoroughly pissed me the fuck off. That place will NEVER get another dime of my business.

No but it seems to be a thing where for any service now they expect 25-35%. Bought a cup of black coffee the other day and the server was expecting 20%. Honestly I've been put off ordering out or going out to restaurants, used to be eating out costs less in the United states compared to cooking at home. Now why bother paying more for restaurant food thats not comparable to what you can cook at home and is basically a microwave dinner.

I say no but there is a local sub shop I go to and I always leave a couple of bucks in the tip jar because they see like good guys.
