If You Decided To Own A Dog, What Name Would You Chose?

Question

Apparently Poppy is the number one registered name according to a leading insurer, with Willow, and Mabel also popular too.

But in a poll 31% want Rex to make a comeback.

Traditional dog names like Rover and Fido are out off favor.

Do you agree with these findings?

What is your opinion, would you call your dog any of these names?

Poppy? Really I figured it would be Bella, that's such a common name.

Id have to see the dog to pick a name. With our most recent cat we adopted we wanted a food related name, after brainstorming we landed on Clove but thought it sounded weird so made it Clover 🍀 which obviously isn't a food and is quite ironic since clover is toxic to cats.

But yeah tend to come up with a theme and go from there based on personality.

One of my childhood cats we wanted a ocean theme and landed on Fin.

I had a Golden Retriever named Jake.

Although I have heard people who know more about dogs 🐶 than I do that the dogs name should be more than one syllable. - like don't name it Bob. According to this guy a dog knows their name right away when it's more than one syllable. I think 🤔 that is true when you think about it.

They were born in 2020. So we named them "Covid" and "Delta" ( the then present variation of public interest) ... there was also a guest cat named "Pfizer" - but it did not survive, despite its name.

My parents named their first dog after the park they got married in, and their second one after the place they met. My fiancée and I have decided to name our dog after the street we met on, since the other "information" doesn't really work.

For me a name is a more personal thing, even for a dog!  id never select a generic name as the ones listed. For me, the name is dependant on breed, sex , personality, fur color, etc

It would depend on the type of dog (I'm more partial to black labs). I'd probably pick something like Leonidas, Sobieseki, or Baldwin XD

I adopted a rescue that's face was severely burned in a fire. I named him "Leatherface". I don't think he got the joke though. But it's OK. He was a good dog.
