Are there things from a certain era that remind you of Christmas even if they have nothing to do with Christmas?

For me, things from the late `50's and very early `60's can get me in the mood for Christmas. There's plenty of old records from that era that can put me into that mood. Quite often, when Dec. and Jan. come around, I get an urge to listen to a bunch of my 78's. Something about older things, specifically of that era, get me Christmasy. The ornaments we always put on the tree remind of me that mostly BECAUSE they are quite old, some are now over 100 years old. The last few years that mom was alive, she much preferred new ornaments and didn't like the old ones so, as I spent most of my time in the dining room with my computer, we'd set up the tree under the arch between the dining room and living room and mostly put her new ornaments on the living room side and mostly the older ones on my side.
I've been watching videos of t. v. shows from that era and that kinda puts me into that mood.
I was just thinking about grandma's furniture when she first moved in here in `63 and it was all the rage to have all your upholstered stuff covered in clear plastic to keep it nice! I still have the living room t. v. from then in the basement.
I guess it's just nostalgia and antiques of that era in general that give me nostalgia for Christmases of that era.

Actually there is and it caught my attention a few weeks ago. Well, it centers around this 747 jet I got for Christmas and must have been 69 but possibly 68 which I doubt because my paternal grandmother passed in December of 68.

There's something about that jet that has my memory full of goodness and happy time at home. I'm not sure what. But sometimes it gets called up and I kind of enjoy it for a moment.

You were in band in high school so can you read music and is the music for drums the same as any type or how is that done. That's the reason I came on here. I listened to Dreamin' and I love that drummer. Very fast paced.

I was never in band in high school. I had it for a couple classes in Jr. High but none of the other drummers would let me play because they all thought they were so much better than me (it was more the other way around!) so, there was no point in my going.
I DID have a tutor for a while in 4th grade and was taught how to read music for drums. Most of it's the same as for other instruments except that there's no actual notation, as in, what line on the staff the notes go. They mostly go on the same line unless you're playing pre-tuned tympani or a full set of drums. At that point, I only had a snare with a tiny cymbal attached.
There IS other notation special to the drums, I don't remember what they all are, anymore but one was an X instead of a little black oval and I think that was for a cymbal. Bass drum notes would, of course, be in the bass clef and I can only assume the toms would go from the treble clef down into the bass clef, depending on how many there were and how deep they are pitched.
After a month or two, the tutor told my parents that they're wasting their money on him because he's trying to teach me beginner's stuff and I'm already way more advanced and am getting bored with his lessons!
In `69, my grandmother, whose house we were living in, decided she was gonna die soon, I think she was 89, so, she wanted her entire family to come to our house for Christmas to have one last big family blast so, all of my relictives from all over the country on that side oof the family came in for Christmas that year. We put together several tables from the dining room out to the front door in a huge L-shape where all 46 of us sat together at the same table! Mom's mom catered.

I remember getting a large set of coloured pencils that year for Christmas. I'm guessing there were maybe 30 pencils and I couldn't wait to start colouring things with them. I might've used them once or twice and then they vanished!! Kinda weird that I remember those pencils more than the set of drums I got for Christmas in `67!

Wow! Grandma put on a shin-dig. It's weird how some things stick with us.
