Average new car costs $50,000 . American cars are crap with Buick rated the best of the American cars at #8 . Toyota is ranked #1 with the 4 runner.

Could the car market start another 2008 crisis?

Do you buy new or used? People are upside down in value with their cars. Purchase cost is higher , insurance is higher , mechanics to fix car is higher.

What American need is a car without the extras. Just FM radio, AC/Heat , roll up and roll down windows. Price would be affordable. Cars are like houses today , buyers have to buy what is out here. Repos are at all time highs , so don't listen to Trumpsters saying economy is booming. If so , Repos would be at all time lows.

The last vehicle I bought was an American made 91 Silverado pickup which is what I drive now. It's a incredibly robust truck that just keeps on going. It's easy to maintain and work on lots of space under the hood. So for the vast majority of things I can fix them myself and don't need to take it to a mechanics shop. Shoot I could go take the alternator off of it in about 10-20 minutes right now if I wanted to and put it back on just as quickly.

And so many of them were made that you can easily find parts for them and if you can't there are factories that make new parts for them using the actual original blueprints so no parts shortages.

Classic American trucks and cars are the way to go 100% but I will agree with you that modern American vehicles are indeed absolute crap.

I will only buy American. Granted most auto makers at this point have come together and shared many secrets or technology so actually purchasing a vehicle now could more or less be made up of parts from all over.

Also certain auto makers have plants in the USA I order to keep those cars actually being purchased by Americans.

For me Ford rules. One of the Auto makers that has been up front. About things and has gone out looking for newer tech in order to make their vehicles better.

My current BMW was last BMW. Maybe a Toyota, Mazda, Honda but maybe some Chinese car. I care for EU car manufacture like they care for me.
US cars aren't a topic in EU. I had for a weekend Tesla for 100k USD and thought WTF interior quality is worse than in a Skoda.

Well I have a Toyota RAV4 that I plan on keeping for quite a while because I certainly am not spending 50 grand on a car and I spent 31,000 on the car I have now when it was only a year old so probably a used Toyota or Honda when I need one again

I always buy American. I get big 8 cylinder pickups or SUVs. I get 200+K miles out of them an sell them myself when I buy a new one
