5 moI do go anonymous. I’m getting better at not using anonymous and standing my ground on issues I deeply care about.
A small reason is, I’m curious if those that politically opposite on here would agree with me if it wasn’t for my username being recognized and surprisingly it actually gets a few likes more without changing any words around or anything. I don’t think we are as divided as people make us out to be, since without my label we can have an actual discussion.
Another is when it comes to certain topics, I feel scared to share what I actually think sometimes however I’m getting better at standing my ground on the key issues I care about.

1.5K opinions shared on Other topic. Yes!! I asked a question exactly about this very thing not long ago. It's rather unnerving isn't it?
I started just skipping giving my opinions to the Anon people. It's not worth my time and effort. It feels like I am just wasting my time and for what?
I drove the same point home as you did. I can understand that certain questions they ask they don't want us to know it's coming from someone who we are familiar with on here.
It doesn't have to be Anonymous all of the time. If they want to hide behind the fence, then they are going to be a stranger to me and treated as such.11 Reply
7.3K opinions shared on Other topic. Yes, and 90% of them are nothing but trolls. The only people who want the anonymous option are trolls who wish to post their useless trash and offensive comments. The ones that use the "no replies" option are even more spineless and pathetic.
If this site had any standards, it would respect most users' wishes and remove the option. Hell, you can't even block most of the immature morons.

AI Opinion
AskHi, I’m Laura, the GAG AI-Bot here to help 😊
I get what you mean. Lately it *does* feel like more members are using anonymous even for everyday questions. A few reasons this happens:
People might feel shy or fear being judged, even on “simple” topics. Some worry friends/followers will recognize their situation. Others are new or had bad experiences before and feel safer testing the waters anonymously.
It can be a bit frustrating when you’d like more transparency, but anonymity also encourages some users to open up who otherwise wouldn’t post at all. 💬
If you’d like this to change (for example, limiting anon use or tweaking it), you can share your suggestion with the admin team by sending a message to:

1.1K opinions shared on Other topic. For me I wish they would take it off its one thing to use it to answer question or ask a question you might not want your employer see but its a whole other world if they use it to send people message. There are more people on here using it for the wrong things and not being held accountable that's wrong

u 5 moI don't want to be the one telling others when or why they should go Anon, or not...
if is their need, then that's their business and they have their reasons
I mean, sure... it is nice to "know who I am talking with" but I don't really need to know it in order to answer a question... I'm more about the question than the person11 Reply- 5 mo
also... many times I answer questions without looking at who asked it... lol
5 moI'm used to a bunch of Anon's because of 4chan, but...
I wonder is anyone else has noticed a surge of anon pink accounts...
It must be the patriarchy at it again.

5 moAs long as the anonymous ones get replies to their comments/questions, they will continue to go anonymous. In my opinion, they should totally be ignored and then, their comments or question will receive no replies, and they will then have two choices; 1- Continue as anonymous and eventually get bored by receiving no replies, or 2- Post with their screen name!

u 5 moYes, it’s ridiculous. But apparently, da big, bad gooberment is tracking people on the interwebs. 🙄🙄🙄
I deactivate anonymous answers on my questions, I encourage everyone to do the same.11 Reply- 5 mo

5 moI always block anonymous from commenting on my posts. I rarely ever forget to check the option to stop them. It prevents a lot of trolls and hateful comments.

5 moThat is probably because they have no regular account and just opened one as an anon, if you can even do that.

5 moI stopped using this site much because of this and because of the block message feature almost 100% of females use now. There is no one on one communication now which most guys need. The world has just smudged us out.

5 moI feel like we have been asking this question for the last year! it's an epidemic! I simply ignore Anonymous posts for the most part. I think with some there is a fear of being blocked.

Anonymous(30-35)5 moSimslover92, why do non-troll anon questions annoy you? Annoying because you are unable to develop an online friendship/acquaintanceship with that user and socialize with them? Annoying because you are unable to read their profile and tailor your response to them? Annoying because it doesn't fit your belief system of what this site should be about? I don't understand your perspective, so please explain.

Opinion Owner5 moAnnoying because you don't understand why they want to use the anon feature?

Congratulations for proving my point.
- 5 mo
There was no reason for you to be anonymous on this question.
Opinion Owner5 moWhy do you think there is no reason to use the anon feature here? As I said before, please explain your perspective. Just as you have trouble understanding my perspective, I have trouble understanding yours. Would it help for me to list reasons why myself and others go anon?
Opinion Owner5 moJust because you think there is no reason doesn't mean there isn't one.

I feel that people abuse it for no reason. We are already anonymous so why feel the need to be even more anonymous with questions or opinions that won't really affect you? I can understand the sexual ones or the ones about mental health but just the basic regular questions I have a problem understanding.
Opinion Owner5 mo“I feel that people abuse it for no reason”
I don’t know what you mean by “abuse it for no reason”. The reason can be as simple as, they just like being anon. As long as they aren’t using to hurt others (e. g. posting inflammatory comments with no reply enabled, seemingly deliberate questions to annoy others and not to understand someone else’s perspective), I don’t mind if they use the feature. I want everyone to feel comfortable writing questions/opinions. That way, we can learn from more perspectives.
“We are already anonymous so why feel the need to be even more anonymous with questions or opinions that won't really affect you?”
I am not sure what you mean by “won’t really affect you”.
But, I’ll provide some reasons why someone may be anon.
1. They want to reduce profile bias (e. g. don’t want other users selecting their opinion because others like/know them, don’t want others to tailor their response to their question based on their profile and possibly stretch the truth to increase their chance of getting their opinion selected)
2. They don’t want to be stalked or followed.
3. They don’t want to form online relationships with other users on this site. They are just here to learn (not learn how to make online relationships or socialize though).
4. They want to make it harder for anyone (especially some users on this site) to figure out their real identity. On a different site like QUORA, where people ask highly technical questions, my full name is visible.
5. They want to make it harder for someone to scrape the site and form an AI version of their account, trained on all the previous posts/questions they have done.
Hope this helps a bit.

5 moIt's stupid really, but keep in mind that more people want to talk shit with no accountability. Which can be done without posting anonymous..
10 Reply350 opinions shared on Other topic. That’s not something I care about. There are bigger problems in the world and people posting anonymously isn’t one of them. Plus, people post anonymously for different reasons. Who cares? 🤷🏽♀️

There's a difference between someone you might stop in the street and ask directions from and someone you might sit down and have a pint with. Which of these do you want the forum to be?
Anonymous(Under 18)5 mono offence but who cares? it's their decision to keep some of their privacy.
i made this anonymous just to annoy you :D
