The second one is the Irish coat of arms. Ireland wasn't established in 1759 or trademarked.

Slide correction. While the harp was used to symbolize Ireland for centuries, there was no specific modality of the symbol. Guinness trademarked their symbol 60 years before modern Ireland was founded, and it was the government of Ireland in 1922 that flipped the harp opposite of the Guinness harp in order to differentiate them.

Back in the 16th century the English would execute any Irish man caught playing a harp. Harps are culturally important to celtic cultures but perhaps more so to Ireland for this reason.

1759. Would Ireland be THAT old? But would GUINESS be THAT old? Actually, Nortern Ireland split later, but if I recall correctly, Ireland used to be part of the UK. I'm American. I have no clue when Ireland got its independence. But Gueniss THAT old?

Ireland is ancient, it predates Rome. (Ireland originally collapsed after we went to war and killed everyone except 6 women who then repopulated the country)
Think about it st patrick was Romano-British around 460AD as the empire crumbled. Ireland was under English control for a long time but was still classed as Irish (makes it easier to discriminate). The real reason it regained independence was they had a coup just as WW2 ended. No one was in the mood for more bloodshed so it slipped quietly into independence. NI stayed with the UK largely on religious grounds.
