Today is the first day that I saw our little pet skunk AND the chipmunks came out of hibernation today too! No April Fools! A sure sign that Spring is FINALLY here!!! Yay!!! Yay!!! And more Yay!!! 🎉

Thank you Mother Nature and I would so kiss the bare Earth in appreciation except now it's turning into mud season and I don't want to get all muddy, at least until I take the 4-wheeler out soon! But anyways, this makes me all so warm-n-fuzzy and very, very happy! And so, I ask , Do you have skunks and chipmunks? 🦨🐿

There are no chipmunks where I live. There are ground squirrels, voles, mice, and some tree squirrels. Voles and ground squirrels mess with our gardens and are a pain.
Lots of other critters are around - raccoons, skunks, possums, foxes, bobcats, and mule deer. We hear coyotes but they don't come around.
None of those critters bother us. In fact, we rarely see them during the day, other than the deer that come to graze in our yard.

One night, our big fluffy, marmalade-orange, part Main coon boy got out. We were worried because he has been an indoor kitty since birth and has no survival skills.
When he finally came back late that night, he stunk. He had apparently run across a skunk and tried to make friends. The skunk gave him a full blast.
We washed him several times with diluted vinegar and got most of the smell of of him, but he still smelled like skunk for days.

I do not possess skunks and chipmunks.
The Missouri Department of Conservation has very strict laws in regard to possession of wildlife.

But yes, skunks, chipmunks, raccoons, deer, turkeys, newts, lizards, snakes, frogs, toads, armadillos, wasps, bees, dragonflies, birds of many types, skeeters, spiders, pill bugs, millipedes, centipedes, silverfish, beetles of many varieties, and stinkbugs are all frequent visitors to, or are cohabitating with me at my suburban lodgings.

I probably missed several thousand types of fauna in my list, but hey, I gave it my best shot for a Wednesday mid-morning, with only one cup of coffee and just a nip of 100 proof bourbon in me to get my engine warmed up.

P. S. - Oh yeah, mice, too!

Oh, that's a nice list! And we don't like actually keep them as pets. They just like to get in the compost 'cuz there's all kinds of goodies, so they stay really close by and are very tame. And Cheers! 🍻

My father in law feeds the chipmunks in his yard, by hand! Him and my mother in law were on vacation a couple weeks ago and we had to go over to their place to check on things, feed the birds, fill the bird bath (even though they live next to a lake! lol). The weather was nice and those chipmunks came RUNNING when my husband and I were putting bird feed in the feeders! Crawling on me.. I freaked out and told him, he's on his own... I swear, the difference in upbringing between you and I is amazing! To answer your other question, I have never seen a skunk but I do smell them on occasion.

Oh, I love my little skunk and he's so smart. I can feed him by hand too if I sit really patient. But yes, you and I are definetly from different cultures, lol! But it's ok if you ran from the chipmunks since if you ever took me to the city I would totally freak out and hide from city stuff. Like escalators. Stairs aren't supposed to move.

Thanks for MHO and I think it's hilarious having skunk as a pet lol When I grew up, we had dogs and cats for a pet. My husband had a pet raccoon, crow and a pet fox 🙄 He said the raccoon became really mean and ended up leaving. I guess the fox would wonder off but come back on occasion, then one day, it never came back. The crow died from eating poison. That's sad, he said he was his best pet.

Sadly they're not found here but it may interest you that we call skunks smelly dogs (translated) here, I shit you not. And isn't a chipmunk just a glorified squirrel?

Spring has sprung here, the daffodils are in full bloom, the trees are in flower and the lambs are frolicking in the fields.

But I think the turning point is when the bluebells come out and the bats become more active. A house martin is a good sign too.

Lol @ "smelly dogs"! 🤣 And chipmunks and squirrels are the same family but for some reason chipmunks hibernate and squirrels don't. I guess the chipmunks are smarter 'cuz I would hibernate if I could too!

Cheepsmonks yes. Skunks yes, although they are a lot less common in CT than they are in MA, NH, and ME. But what I've never seen in CT is the porkypines that you have in Maine. Porkypines are cute. Oh, we also have moosen wandering down from the frozen northlands once in a while. But it's like Elvis showing up, big news. What we have pretty commonly is black bears, bobcats, and coyotes. What we have like the plague is dumbass deer, aka the dumbest animals on the face of the Earth. I cheer for the bears and the coyotes.

Oh, yes! I love the porkys too! And yes, I have to admit deer aren't always the smartest. Twice I've had them run into the side of my Jeep. 😳

No but, a few years ago a chipmunk got into the house for a while. I'd never seen a real one before and thought it was a baby squirrel.
And, last year, I stepped out on the front porch and two of them were racing around on the porch. I think they have a nest under the driveway.
Mostly, all I get are bunnies and a few deer every few weeks. SOMETIMES I get a few raccoons but, VERY rarely, at least as far as I've SEEN. And, there's something that looks like a large groundhog living under the tool shed of the house next door.

We have tuns of birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. Birds started coming back around last week from their winter travels down south. That's the spring signal I most enjoy. The birds early morning chirping.

The skunks though... sorry for your little friends but they're not welcome. They destroy property and I don't want my dogs getting sprayed, so if I see them... pew pew pepé la pew

I think I've seen one skunk in the wild in my entire life. We have chipmunks, but I haven't seen any recently. Our biggest spring rodents are the rabbits. They're back, one stared down my mom the other day.
