How do you solve this problem?
I do it the way my mother would...
new towels and clothes are "coated" with chemicals from those who make them, and just to make them look good, and so
first, I soak them in cold water mixed with a little bit of white vinegar and then I just them be for an hour or so, this should allow for the lint and the chemicals to come off, on first washes... I don't use softener, because brand new towels already come with a ton of it...
if you can't hang/air dry them in the shadow, then... use very low heat in the dryer
for the second and later washing... I would just do it as usually do and works for you with the rest of your towels
I use warm water & Vinegar essence. And 10 min. So warm water works as a catalyst maybe. I tried some to soak over night. But the color bleeds put. I put the new blue and white towels together. So the white towels were light blue. I put them without any special products, only my usual color washing powder from the discounter and 60 °C in my washing machine. The white towels are now white and the blue still blue. I did not worry - kitchen towels needn't to be beautiful. I use them. I was surprised the white were white again without doing anything specific.
my mother has just always done it, with any clothing... including towels, lol
Normal cycle on the washing machine and dryer. No fabric softener as it seems to coat them and make them less absorbent. It can take several washings before they absorb well.

I learned to wash new towels from my grandmothers, even though they were from two different countries England & Germany they both used the same basic method, only back the fabric conditioners/softeners did not exist, and I rarely use them today, though I do not use them because of the fragrances the big brands use.
Wash new towels before use to remove finishing chemicals and excess lint. Use a hot cycle with white vinegar, then follow up with baking soda in a second wash for optimal softness and absorbency.
Importance of Washing New Towels
Washing new towels before their first use is essential for several reasons:
Removes Finishing Chemicals: Many manufacturers apply silicone or other chemicals to enhance the feel of towels in stores. These can reduce absorbency.
Increases Freshness: Washing eliminates dust and particles that may have accumulated during manufacturing and storage.
Prevents Shedding: A first wash helps remove stray threads and lint, ensuring a better experience when using the towel.
Maximizes Absorbency: Washing helps cotton fibers absorb and release water effectively, enhancing the towel's performance.
Fluffs Up Towels: The wash process revitalizes the fibers, making them softer and fluffier.
Step-by-Step Washing Instructions
To properly wash new towels, follow these steps:
Initial Wash
Use Hot Water:
Wash the towels in warm to hot water (not scalding).
Add White Vinegar: Instead of detergent, add one cup of white distilled vinegar to the wash. This helps remove the silicone coating.
Wash Separately:
It's best to wash new towels alone to avoid lint transfer from other fabrics.
Second Wash
Baking Soda:
After the first wash, run a second cycle using half a cup of baking soda. This further softens the towels.
Drying:
Dry the towels according to the care instructions, avoiding fabric softeners or dryer sheets, as these can coat the fibers and reduce absorbency.
Additional Tips
Avoid Fabric Softeners: They can leave a greasy residue that diminishes towel performance.
Check Care Labels: Always follow specific washing instructions provided on the towel's care label.
Regular Maintenance:
Wash towels every 2-3 uses to prevent bacteria buildup and maintain freshness.
Laundry machine by 30C. Generally you should wash all new bought textiles before using it, since those textiles are soaked with chemicals for transport and storage.
The same as old towels. Wash in the washing machine and air dry.
Mine are darker toned. But I usually throw them through the wash with fabric softener, dry them on low heat, then through a air fluff cycle with a dryer sheet.
We just put them in the washing machine and then the dryer. WTP?
Dry in the sun hand wash the towels like I do
I put like colors in washer to wash just like other clothes
Throw them in the fuckin washer I guess.
Probably I'd read a tag label or I'd Google
Or ask a wiser older soul
Why do you wash them
Why?
