it really depends on what it is... if not harmful, I just let it be
One day, I was sitting on the front porch of our rehearsal house just playing my bassists bass when a bee landed on my right arm. Normaly, I would've at least tried to shoo it away and then run off the porch until it seemed safe. Well, I was told that if you don't bother them, they won't hurt you! So, I let it be. I continued to calmly sit there playing bass for a couple minutes as it roamed towards my elbow. It got behind my elbow and I think it started to climb up the back of my arm and then the little fucker stung me!!! I jumped up and dropped Chris's base on the concrete!! Luckily, it just suffered a tiny dent.
damn... not Chris
but yeah, I don't trust a bee or wasp like that, if it has a stinger, I don't let it linger...
besides, I still don't know if I am allergic to them or not... and I might need an Epipen which I've never had or used in my life
Yes, and his girlfriend's name was, Christine.
I've never used or needed one, either.
I don't mind ladybugs. But lightning bug? I wold probably whisk it away.
Why? All they do is land on you, walk around for a couple seconds and then fly away.
Oh, you mean fireflies? I don't mind them either. I thought those were some other type of bugs.
Now I wisk when a child i caught'em!
Lightning bugs? Yeah, we used to catch them and put them into a jar with grass in it and air holes in the lid. We'd only keep them for a day or so, though.
My cousins used to know someone that wanted them for their lights and would pay per bug so, they'd swat them out of the sky to the ground and kill them, collect them and give them to whoever it was that wanted them.
I rarely ever see ladybugs but, about 20 years ago for 2 or 3 years in a row, hundreds of them would congregate on the back wall of my house in the bright sunlight!! Above the back porch, we had a small roof about 8' square with a set of gutters and a downspout leading to a bucket next to the porch steps. Some of the ladybugs would land on the roof and roam around and eventually find their way to the downspout and fall in and land in the bucket of water where they'd try desperately to swim to the edge to escape but they really suck at swimming and it'd take them maybe an hour or so to swim half a foot!! One day, I went out back to sit on the porch steps for a while and spotted a bunch of them in the bucket so, I'd scoop them up in my hand to rescue them and then just let them dry off until they could fly away. For some reason, they couldn't or wouldn't dry off in my hand and would rather climb all the way up to my shoulder to do that! Or, I would rest my elbow on my knee with my hand pointed upward and they'd climb to my fingertips to dry off.
Unless I had to rush away, somewhere, I'd just patiently sit there and wait for them all to dry off their wings and fly away. If I DID have to rush off, I'd shake or push them off into the grass and let them dry off there.
Occasionally, one would bite me, for some reason. I could feel a VERY TINY pinch, of sorts but, it wouldn't really hurt.
It usually took each one about 10 or 15 minutes to dry off and then off they went. Who knows how many flew back up to the roof, fell down the downspout and went through the whole process all over again!
While sitting there letting one bunch dry off, I would occasionally hear another falling down the spout into the water. The metal spout would sound, tink, tink, tink, tink, tink and in the water they'd go! Of course, I'd scoop that one out, too and let it dry off.
