Is most love actually conditional, and does true unconditional love exist?

I only know conditional love in my way of giving it to someone with some expecting at the bare minimum. I have never experienced unconditional love in my life even from my parents, it was marks, obedience, money, and there social and economic status. So when I imagine love without any expectations it makes me feel stupid. But at the same time hopeful, because once in my life I only gave love to someone and let them fly freely with no strings and no boundaries.
I still love one of them more than I should care but it is what it is.
That begs another question even unconditional love demands looks, quality, empathy.
I always get confused with love and empathy ,

I experience unconditional love, as a child and as a father. And I'm reasonably sure I'm far from being alone in that case because that is storge.

But in a romantic context, eros, I'll say I experienced and experience again what looks like unconditional love. When love hasn't faded yet. But then it always faded, so it looks, manifestly, conditional to me.

Love is not conditional. That conditional thing you feel isn't love, it's a transaction.

Not true at all. If you are madly in love with your wife and she cheats on you, gets pregnant, then kills your whole family you wouldn't love her anymore. So you loved her based on certain conditions

I got it earlier on cause I am ugly and weak. But different people have different experiences and many of them get showered with love like you. And given a permanent pass for being mean and irritating.
