Do you ask questions on here, but don't give anyone an MHO for answering your questions?

I feel that if members are going to take the time to give their opinions on my questions, then it's only right that I am the one who gives out the MHO'S and not leave it up to GaG to do it for me.

I'm the one who gives MHOs. Although I occasionally forget to do it before GAG does it for me.
Sometimes it's hard to decide who to give the MHO to and I wish I could give more. We used to be able to select four.

How can Liam's and Xawyz-2 be the most helpful when they haven't answered your question correctly?

Well, actually they did answer the question correctly.

What I was asking is do YOU give out the MHO'S yourself or do you just let GaG do it for you?
Some people don't give them personally and just let GaG give out the MHO'S for them.

I always give MHO... especially if I like the answer... then I do it as soon as possible.

I have a different view to you on this subject.

I allow GAG's to choose very nearly 100% of my MHO's, and the only time I don't is when there is only one correct answer, and I have a fair lottery if there are several correct answers.

I would be tempted to give favouritism if I picked the MHO's myself, and I want to give everyone a fair chance of an MHO.

I find that GAG's usually does a good job of picking MHO's but they tend to give MHO's to the people that text the most, regardless of how they answer the question.

Also if MHO's are important, I give people that answer my questions 4 opportunities of receiving a MHO, and a Star Opinion too, and this wouldn't be the case if I chose the MHO's myself, because GAG's usually doesn't take further interest in the question.

I miss out on the points for giving MHO's myself, but because MHO's are the only reward for answering the questions, I prefer to give people a better chance of obtaining one.

But like you say you give your questions the personal touch, and the system gives you the right to do so.

An interesting statistic of mine is very nearly all my questions have a red and blue star at the side of them.

Perhaps this shows that girls and guys have both an equally good chance of receiving a MHO from my questions, though probability suggests every eventuality should occur, but it doesn't with my questions, the only red and blue stars are chosen by me.

I know we are asking the questions for perhaps our own purposes, but someone perhaps 12 months down the line, or whenever, can access our questions, and do they want to see our own personal values for the MHO's?

What I'm saying is, our questions are also to benefit other people that might be in our situation in the future.

I just had to check and see when I even last asked a question. It has been six months. I do select the most helpful opinion but I don't like the setup they have going. I'll have to go back and fish for an example but the problem is that even when I pick MHO the site selects two and a superb opinion that necessarily don't agree with what I thought was the best opinions. The reason I don't care for this is because users have no idea which I selected and which the site selected. If they highlighted which ones the asker selected would be better. Sometimes I see MHO that goes totally against what I found most helpful and I can't help but think some may take me for an idiot selecting contradicting views since no one really knows which I picked.

I think it all depends who you are, I would be happy to pick two MHO's and let GAG's pick the rest, but this doesn't happen for me.

Ideally I would like to choose all three MHO's and a Superb Opinion, but I'm playing the system we have at present.

It seems a bit pointless if we only want the opinions we agree with, or just girls opinions, or guys opinions, Masters opinions etc. which happens a lot on GAG's lol.

You can actually ask for just girls opinions, or just guys opinions, but I was using this as an example, and mostly questions are addressed to everyone, when perhaps they shouldn't be.

@Sunrising Never did I say that I don’t accept competing opinions. All I said was that the most helpful to me should not be contradicting what I found most helpful that is simply chosen from an algorithm.

Maya I think that is very contradictory, why ask the question if you already know you are not going to change your opinion, and what is the point of answering your questions if someone doesn't agree with you opinions, with no possible chance of a MHO as case in question lol.

But hey the system allows you to choose whoever you want to for the MHO, and fortunately GAG's chooses 2 MHO's otherwise we might as well ask the same question twice, one for, and one against lol.

I usually don't. I really dislike the system choosing MHO for me after only a few days. I want to choose it when I feel like it's time for it. On some questions I might not want to choose any at all. I don't like having to choose some response for MHO after only 2 days or what just to prevent the system from choosing something. The whole MHO stuff feels meaningless. I mostly post quick, low effort replies and have 30% MHO rate, it's ridiculous. That's why I don't bother with it.

I always try to give MHOs to the guy and girl with the most interesting opiion on questions that I post. Sometimes the GaG algorithm beats me to it.

I stopped giving them years ago when it became obvious that they don't mean anything or do anything for you and, quite often, gag would hand them out before I had the chance to so, let gag do it if they want to.

Sometimes life happens, and because of G@G's rules and time requirements, G@G gets to it before I would. I try not to let that happen because, I do get Xper points too for picking the MHO's myself, don't I?
