What historical events or eras are you most fascinated by and why?

I find anything related to the Titanic and early 1900’s-1920’s interesting.

I have a particular liking for the period ranging from the 16th. century to the 18th. century when all the great painters and musicians were at their peaks in their trade. The great Dutch masters in painting like Rembrandt or Vermeer, classical music composers such as Mozart or Beethoven.

Even the high renaissance period in 15th. century are fascinating with people like Leonardo da Vinci as prime example.

In terms of reading material, the same period is the one I am going for with the series of novels by Ken Follett, such as "The Pillars of the Earth".

Each period up to the 19th. century has its own charm while the 20th. century is too close to me and has more negative events such as the 2 world wars. I am not even mentioning the current millennia which is a total waste.

Titanic is the thing i'm obsessed with also, especially since the theories about it actually being Olympic as part of an insurance scam are being proven correct. i travel a lot so whenever i end up in a city where the exhibit is i sneak off to see it again. now there's a permanent exhibit in Vegas which was great when i had a residency there, and there are many exhibits scattered all over the place of different aspects of the ship and it's artifacts

also Apollo 13, i always say if any one thing had gone right on Titanic they would have made it, and if any one thing had gone wrong with Apollo 13 they wouldn't have made it

Ancient history that we don’t know much about. My great grandpa was an engineer on the Titanic. He was on the ship from Belfast to Liverpool. A senior engineer who was out on medical leave took a smaller faster boat from Belfast to Liverpool, meet him at the dock, and told him to get off the boat and go home. Thanks dude! It's also a time when Paganism was still the most common religion across Europe, but was procedurally Christianised.

@Just_Ken This will have to be a very long answer as I study this era a lot.
The collapse of the Roman Empire and Ostrogothic Kingdom in the West saw cities reduced to pastureland, with farms even being built in the colosseum.
All the aqueducts started to fall apart and flood local fertile land into wetlands. There were pockets of civilisation that held out longer, such as Carlisle (with a functioning fountain under the Kingdom of Rheged in Britain) but even that stopped working once Rheged was destroyed.
Before the empire even fell, many "citizens" ended up having to sell themselves into slavery to survive, devolving into a proto-feudal system system which is where serfs and peasants came from.
Gaul was sacked multiple times and had many different kingdoms established by migratory hordes. North Africa was taken by the Vandals which strangled the Western Roman grain supply, causing mass starvation and already in the late Roman Empire the population rapidly dropped.
Italy had a resurge in civilisation under the Oatrogoths, but thanks to Justinian's war to "retake" Italy, Justinian had managed to reduce Italy from one of the most urbanised areas on the planet to a giant wasteland. Piles of Roman art and statues were thrown from the walls at attacking forces, shattering them. During the Gothic wars the cities were taken, sacked and retaken constantly.

@Just_Ken Justinian deliberately destroyed infrastructure and deleted the ancient senate in Rome from existence, as their existence challenged Eastern Roman legitimacy. The city of Rome was reduced to ruin with only the Pope left to pick up the pieces.
To make matters worse Europe faced 2 natural disasters close to each other. There was Justinian's plague which was almost as bad as the bubonic plague, emptying out entire populations. Then there was an entire year spent in famine, cold and darkness because volcanic ash covered the sky from massive volcanic activity in America (which carried over).
The main things being developed during later antiquity and the early dark ages were churches.
These churches were made from the ruins of older Roman infrastructure, such as walls and ruins. The churches were not quarried but built on tearing down the things people started to neglect, especially temples which people feared.
Many statues had crucifixes and older buildings had crucifixes violently etched on and the statues noses smashed off to ruin their beauty, as people were superstitious of old gods & spirits inhabiting them still so it was a method to remove the artworks power. Not to mention the late Roman Empire itself adopted an inferior looking coin mint and built deliberately ugly, abstract looking statues as the institutions associated with producing these things at a higher quality were also shunned as vulgar, due to their craft often being connected to pagan cults.
If you look at how the population declined from 400AD to 600AD in Italy it's shocking how fast such a massive population dropped hard.
Europe remained trapped in the same technological era as a result all the way until the 11th century, as development was incredibly slow and there was constant tribal warfare.
Being alive during the 5th-6th century meant your genetic legacy was likely going to end with you, due to the amount of people that died.

Industrialization. I watched several videos about it, for example street videos of 1910 London, 1920’s China, silent films etc. And I know a lot of fun facts and conspiracies about the Titanic. For example, there was a ship nearby, close enough for people on the Titanic to see and vice versa, named the Californian but they had turned their telecommunications off before the ship hit the ice berg, they saw the distress signals but the captain dismissed it as company signals based on the colors.
