How do you keep track of when Replaceable Filters need to be REPLACED?

I usually mark the date on furnace filters and water filters (for fridge, coffee machine). That way, I can know when a filter needs to be replaced. Sometimes, I also add a calendar entry in my phone to remind me to check the filter.

My thermostat reminds me when to replace the filter in the air handler. My refrigerator tells me when to replace the water and fresh air filters. My car tells me whe to change the oil and oil filter. Adulthood For Dummies!

Our refrigerator has a little screen on the inside that tells you to change it. It keeps beeping at you if you don't. Every time you go to get something it beeps. Annoying but very effective.

I think my dad replaces the hvac stuff once a year. We live in a state where you don't get super harsh winters typically.

The coffee machine is one of those pod things and you just do a flush of the maker with a button once in a while. No filter to replace.

@Masie We ignore the little screen on the fridge. The filter can last much longer. That screen warning is there so they can sell you more filters than you really need

That was usually my husband's task.

He used to write dates (installed and projected replace date) on filters (home or vehicular) until he later started relying on calendar apps to remind him.

I got the hang of his method and now share the calendar app with him as well so I can do the replacement in case he's away from home or whatever vehicle needs attention.

I keep track of filter replacements no matter for what application in a physical calendar in my kitchen, a pocket diary, and on Google calendar across my phone, tablet, and PC. I do all the replacements myself, I see no reason to pay any one to do what I can do myself.

I don't have a furnace and in Switzerland you don't need a water filter the water is just clean when it comes out of the tap.

The boiler where I live heats the water for the entire building and the janitor takes care of that. We did have a boiler in our apartment when I grew up but my parents took care of that I didn't pay much attention to it back then I was just annoyed when we came home from holiday and the water was cold lol.

We pump our water straight from the water table. I'd always change any filter long before the recommended date because you can get a high build up of bacteria growing on them.

I just have oil filters on my gasoline powered machines. I change them every spring on my lawnmower and snowblower. My cars have a sticker I use a sharpie on.

the furnace is in an area much like a closet. I have a dated checklist taped to the inside of that closet door.

I look at it. It's usually pretty obvious by visual inspection when filters need to be replaced.

I still use a hard calendar and I write down placement and replacement dates. Amy things in the last several years are now coming with dates on them or with a reminder sticker.

I put the date on the new filter when I put it in. Also, I have Nest thermostats and they tell me when it's time to change the filter.
