The UK is beginning to feel like a holiday abroad. It's boiling hot, and no one speaks English. As one guy put it, "I've seen more camel toe than an Egyptian vet."
People are comparing it to the heatwave of '76 even though the only people who were alive back then can't remember what was for breakfast never mind one week from their childhood.
In winter we bitched about the cold, in spring about the nonstop rain, now we're bitching about the heat. But I'm not, I've been making the best of the weather before it turns shit again.
So what about you? When a heatwave hits , what's your plan?
I love warm summers, always have. On Thursday I had boxing practice and then went to swim in the lake with the coach after. And today I went on a tour of the main trainstation in Zürich and then went to the swimming pool with friends in the afternoon. Amazing. Tomorrow I might go gardening in the morning with some neighbors but I'm not sure yet because I put a lot of strain on my body recently and I might just rest I don't know. I'll see when I wake up and how I feel.
I used to basically live at the beach volleyball fields by the river and as a kid summer was the best time ever. It doesn't feel like too much heat for me at least. But I know there's been problems created by the heat I hope people will get through this but I'm still enjoying it personally.
I worked out for 2.5 hours today and yesterday. In my room it's probably 34 degrees, a proper heat trap.
Turns out, it wasn't the wisest decision.
And yes, the BBC are spreading fear and panic as usual. But I have to admit, today has been really draining.
I think, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. Am I supposed to just laze about, shun work and conserve my energy. A bit like a Spaniard. @lilBigPotato Or do I need to keep moving and keep active.
I've been drinking hot teas and keeping my similar habits. Probably not wise, too?
This is actually the first time I'm really bitching about heatwaves, I'm used to a few days of heatwave, but this time it lasted for 2 weeks, fuck this lol.
With several afternoons at 40° and nights/mornings at 27°. It's a permanent 30° indoors here.
I'm considering spending a day at the library tomorrow, to get AC ! There's one good news, it ends on Sunday, we'll be back to 15° mornings and 30° afternoons ⛲
I don’t like heat waves, but I live in a hot city and it gets pretty hot here. I’m used to it and I have to deal with it, Sometimes I have gotten in my truck and it showed 120° Degree's inside and my air-conditioning wasn’t working at that time. and within five minutes I’m soaking wet and that’s not very good when I have to go do business.
When i didn’t have the benefit of air conditioning, i used to stick ice cubes in my undies. Cools ya right down stat! 😂😂😂 If that seems a bit extreme, take a cold shower and then air dry in front of a fan.
Mine are blue. They are a nice set. I just used them coming hime from the gym. For a speedboat I suggest going down to the marina in your bikini. One will show up I’m sure 🙂
We often get it 35 C + at some points in the summer and with the humidity it often feels like it's 10 degrees hotter. We sometimes stay inside where it's nice and cool and not humid or we hit the beach and spend a lot of time in he water but you have to remember the sun screen or you'll pay for it for a few days after. I'm in Toronto, Canada where some folks seem to think we live in igloos and drive snowmobiles all year long, but it's far from it
I hate heat waves except in the summertime here in Southern California. If it's hot enough, I will either go surfing or sailing. Both are a lot of fun, although the application of sun tan is absolutely mandatory.

Your attempt at humor is underwhelming.
In my area, summer temperatures reach highs of 98F/38C for at least two months every year. You are not having a heat wave. Stop being dramatic.

No, I don't.
Top: fictional forecast for August 2050, broadcast by French TV in 2014 to warn about the consequences of global warming
Bottom: Real French forecast for Monday June 22, 2026.
I remember 1976. There was no reason at the time to believe it would become the norm.

Get in a speedboat, lots of self-made breeze and a great day on the water. Wear a pair of polarized sunglasses, I recommend Ray-Ban or Costa Del Mar.
Pull-up on a small island and it’s an instant private beach. Bring a cooler and some beach towels.
I've a pair of Costa del mar, green glass

I don’t wear sunglasses, but it gets pretty bright on my eyes and sometimes I’m trying to put my hand up to block the sun
@Iron_Man A big Life Guard hat then. I’ll help some. Just hold onto it when moving very fast.
It’ll*
Those are definitely good for working outdoors
I enjoy the beach and if it's too much I just stay inside and use the aircon. I'm used to hot weather, if it's not too extreme I'm fine with it.

Yes, if anyone should have been born down south it is me.
Careful what you wish for... you just might get it.

We could drag you across the lake on a "tube"
They are way better than snowstorms! I live in a state where summers get close to 100 and winters drop below 15 fahrenheit of course.
What 30c? Thats a heatwave? Thats only like 86f, I dont even have the ac running. Am I on candid camera?
@purplepoppy If you go to the beach, you get burned to a crisp, here in CA. I'm getting central air in September.
I love a good heat wave... but I admit here in Canada you can always get relief since most houses and buildings are Air Conditioned.

I love the hot , that's nothing , it's great temperature.
Once it gets to 40°C or above, it is too much.
When it's super hot outside, we Americans mostly stay indoors, with the air conditioner.
Going for a swim in a few hours. been swimming every day this week.
It was 35c yesterday, it's way too hot. My brain starts to shut down.
I prefer cool temperatures. Don't know if it's related but I was extremely horny today, and that feels like a summer thing.
The karens cannot handle anything and they have to keep nagging about everything 😂
Absolutely no. Heatwaves drains my energy.
I rather hide away from them.
Everything is relative, ain't it, Poppy ;0)
Im not sure brits understand what a heat wave is
Cave, or basement... heh heh
Not really :P
Ha, it doesn’t even get hot there.
I helped my friend move to Phoenix a few years ago. When I unloaded the van it was 117 degrees outside
Hate them
Fuck no!!!
