Dragons as the ones in the legends and in horror movies never walked the surface of the earth. However, scientist have proved that some types of dinosaurs such as the massive Thanatosdrakon (known as the "Dragon of Death") and the long-necked Pterosaur did actually exist.
Furthermore and in today's world, the Komodo Dragon as well as the flying lizard share the dragon name and its unique traits.
I don't personally believe in stories as told by pseudo scientists. I rely solely on hard scientifc facts about just anything that can be proved through science but not from mouth to ear since millennia.
The Chinese Zodiac is just one example of why it's probable they existed. All the other animals are real, why throw in one fictional creature? It makes no sense.
Sauropod shaped creatures are on ancient pottery in South and Central America that could have been described as dragons back then. Please remember "dinosaur" as a word didn't exist before mid 19th Century when skeletons were uncovered in England.
It's more likely that they did than didn't - just called something different now. Language changes over time. In 1600 nobody thought a unicorn was a horse with a horn. It was a single-horned rhinoceros as opposed to the bicornis, or two horned type.
I really wish they did because they're a cool concept, but there's no archeological evidence of them and unless the turned into pixie dust after dying, I don't see how that's possible.
I do believe dinosaurs with similar physical traits existed at one point. But not anything that could literally breathe fire. Venom powerful enough to dissolve skin perhaps, but not fire.
I also don't believe that dwarves are forging legendary blades in the mountains. Or anything heroic-fantasy for that matter.
Well, except the concept of swords, because even if I haven't seen people swordfighting in real, I still believe it was common in the past
Well, this. . .
does.
Well in older times, people found dinosaur bones and they were at a loss as to how to explain them. Mythology regarding dragons developed from there.
Ma’am, they are still among us! 😱
They are part of the ancient mythology of different cultures that had no known contact between each other, so maybe.
No — dragons as depicted in mythology never existed.
Large lizards certainly exist. The wings and fire-breathing may have been storytelling embellishments.
I mean some dinosaurs probably looked somewhat like dragons. But there was no animal ever that had 4 legs and wings.
There are many ancient cultures that have dragons in their mythology and it makes me wonder why
Maybe, but I don't think they ever fucked with donkeys
I mean im here in the flesh! Roarrr
Kommodo Dragons do
Dragons are pure fantasy
