More like an inevitability. Usa dating has gotten so dehumanizing, toxic, and selfish that its hard to find a healthy relationship that isn't a situationship

I am choosing to be single now that I just got out of a long term marriage with my ex , that decided she wanted to be single all of a sudden once the kids’ got older , so I didn’t really have a choice but to accept her decision because I knew I couldn’t force her to love me and stay with me , so I started focusing on myself and healed myself before I even decided to put myself back on the dating market , hoping I will eventually meet a girl that is way better than my ex. I am currently dating now , but not rushing into anything with any girl until I feel an amazing connection and chemistry with someone. Most girls’ I am dating now just want sex and want to continue being single , which I am ok with if she is honest with me , I prefer FWB’s with some strings attached these days because of the way society is nowadays , most people today have selfish mindsets that only mainly think about themselves and do not know how to give the same way they want to receive unless it’s on their terms. So FWB’s with some strings attached as been working for me and her because it gives us both time to really get to know each other before rushing into a committed relationship with each other. This only works with 2 honest people , otherwise it doesn’t work at all. So i only date honest girls’ and will continue to date an honest girl , over liars and users

For a small minority it is. There you have many who live under the delusion that it is worthwhile just to make themselves feel good. The reality is most humans are meant to have partners. That is a basic function of human life, sadly some will always fail at it.

Some people don't need deep emotional and intimate connection with others. 6x2 month long "relationship" annually isn't a real relationship. You take a while long what you want and if you have enough you say bye, bye. However there isn't enough time to know the person or to deepen any emotional connection. Generally if they start their emotional limbo you go. This is the reality.
In such situation you aren't alone but you aren't in relationship either.

I have a friend who's a bit older than me. She's in her 40s never married, never dated. She'd had FWBs but she didn't do it for long. She loves her life. She makes plenty of money and goes on extravagant vacations. She has 2 big dogs and lots of friends.

    So I'd say it is.

Of course but with rent and home ownership so expensive two incomes might help with that. I know it is not important to some but to be loved and to have a healthy sex life also are important to me. hbu?

For some it is. But honestly, I think that applies mostly to women. The vast majority of men are not single by choice. Most men would rather have a partner. It's mostly females that get attention in society. Men are starved of it. Only the top percentage of men can confidently say they're single by choice. Whereas if women just lower their standards and stop practicing hypergamy, they'd find someone in no time.

In modern life, most people are selfish, egoistic, and act without taking responsibility. It is very difficult to be with such people. In times like these, remaining single until finding a suitable partner seems like a truly necessary choice for emotional people.

Of course; lots of people are perfectly happy being single.

You don't need a relationship at all, unless you want one. There's nothing wrong with either choice.

It really just comes down to the individual. Some people are genuinely happier single, and others thrive in relationships. Personally, I prefer staying single. I tried dating and realized that I value my freedom way more than the benefits of being in a relationship it’s just not for me.

Society pushes this popular narrative that you have to find a partner, get married, and meet your 'soulmate' like it’s some divine order. I completely disagree with that.

That said, I’m not telling anyone else they should stay single. You just have to sit with yourself and genuinely ask what you want. Don't force yourself into a relationship or force yourself to stay single just to fit in. There are loud, extreme voices on both sides, but at the end of the day, we all just have different personalities and needs.

    We have the “option”
    In that sense it’s optional.

    But it’s not advantageous.
Even if it has certain perks.
Ultimately tackling life with a partner makes everything marginally easier to attain

Why wouldn't it be? If you're talking about needing two incomes to survive, there's always roommates. Or, you could do the really smart thing and leave the USA, while you're young, and enjoy an affordable life somewhere else.

    Depends what you want

For me originally I was in a relationship for sex

Then later 20s I thought about having children

Now they are grown up I'm not sure that I want in a relationship. My wife is a handful to say the least.

I guess I want sex and a social life
I want to be close to my children
Ideally that means being with my wife but I'm not sure.

    What is it you want?

Well, it's at least 50% optional. For some people it's less optional than that. But a lot of it will still hinge on that person.

It will become necessary when you start working I guess, you need some form of support (only if you hate your job and you do it to get paid)
And if you are mentally too strong you won't need it.
