LOL, August is probably the month I hate the most. Here in New England, August is generally the hottest month of the year with the highest humidity. Plants are stressed. Lawns go dormant. But... in August we hit the midpoint between Summer Solstice and Autumnal Equinox. Which means Fall is on the way.
This year though we are getting inundated with unusual monsoon rains almost nonstop. It's still hot as hell. But the humidity is even higher than usual. And everything is wet all the time. I was out cutting the lawn yesterday for about 2 hours and when I was done I was soaked. My clothes looked like I jumped in the pool. And it was NOT raining for once.

Less heat than in June and July. But as I live in a tourist resort, where population triples over the summer months, the very best of the month of August is the end of the month, when people pack their stuff. It's not a question of being selfish, but two months of a crowded city centre, crowded beaches, lack of parking space and empty-shelf supermarkets is a bit too much for us locals.

  I seem to remember on one our frequent trips to Egypt some twenty plus years ago, we would take a rickety old mini bus tour out into the desert late at night, where it was absolutely pitch black, to see the stars... It truly was an amazing, unforgettable sight and experience.
