When I was young, I knew that my dad kept a German P-38, 9mm pistol that he had brought home from WWII in one of his dresser drawers.
One day, when I was maybe 13 or so, I loaded it with one round, took it out in the back yard, fired it into the ground, then ran back in the house.
Moments later, I came back out empty handed looking alarmed and said "What was that?" to the man who lived behind us who had come out and looked over the fence when he heard the shot.

One time, a friend and I got hold of an old, canister-style vacuum cleaner. It had a dome-shaped lid that you could remove to empty the vacuum cleaner.
We stood it in my back yard, dropped an M-80 inside, and closed the lid.
The M-80 was really loud when it went off in that enclosed space and the lid shot high into the air.

That same neighbor came out to see WTF.
Several seconds later, that lid came down and landed behind him. It would have hurt him bad if it had landed on him.
He was not happy.

A couple years in a row, I fired a shotgun in the air at midnight on New Years.

For a couple of years, starting when I was 18 or 19, I grew a 4'x8' patch of marijuana next to the wall in my parent's back yard.
