If I were to fish and then when I catch it throw it up as high as I can back to the sea would this be fun or terrifying for the fish?

I guess why do either? If you are fishing just to torment an animal then you are doing the sport for the wrong reasons. Just go to enjoy fishing or don't do it at all.

I have no idea but just a bunch that being caught by a hook is terrifying enough let alone then being thrown in the air when you are used to being in the water.

Their equivalent of a boat hook through the jaw, ripped up and hung in the air, the hook ripped back out, then thrown back
