Should Whitby get a new real whale arch?

Whitby is a town in Yorkshire, England built on the fishing and whaling industry but now a popular tourist destination. One of their long standing attractions is an arch made from a whale's jaw bones, with almost every visitor getting photographed under it.

The original came from a Norwegian whaling company hunting in Antarctica and was replaced in 1996 with those from a one killed by Eskimos.

But now it's going to be replaced with a bronze arch. Some say it's more fitting given today's attitude to whaling others say the attraction is they are actual bones.

Maybe they could fortify the ones they have instead of replacing it. Bronze will last longer. That’s really the only advantage. That whale is already dead. There’s nothing you can do to bring it back. Furthermore, you don’t have to kill whales to benefit from their deaths. Contrary to popular belief, whales do not live forever. They die all the time. There are parts of the world where dead whales wash ashore so often that they have teams of people dedicated to removing their carcasses.
Just get your bones from those.
I luv animals more than most, but the mamby pamby panty-waisted crybaby activists are just a bunch of idiots. Maybe you can replace the whale monument with one made out of crybully bones instead. I’d travel to see that! Ell oh ell!

I would rather they get some new ethically sourced bone... That's a wonderful spot, right next to the statue of the controversial Cap'n Cook and a short walk away from Bram Stoker's house and the bench he sat on all those years ago. Sit and have a look across the harbor and see all the landmarks just as they were described in Dracula. A fun day if you enjoy vampire lore.

Norway legally harvests whales, I'm sure the Norse would like to donate the bones, with a small plaque in Welsh, Norwegian and English telling people about the bones.
