What famous battle, siege, or other military action from history would you fight in if given the chance?
The first one that comes to my mind is the Battle of Vienna. It was on this happy day, September 12th, in the year 1683 that after a two-month siege, the Ottoman Turks were defeated by the forces of the Holy League, led by the King of Poland, John Sobieski III, and his army of winged hussars.

And here's an awesome little song by Sabaton about it...
Others would also be the Battle of Lepanto Bay in 1571, the Siege of Malta in 1565, and maybe the Battle of Marathon (which, incidentally, was also fought on this date - according to our calendar, at least - in 490 BC).

The Great Emu War (1932) is probably the only war I would choose to fight in if I had to.
The Great Emu War of 1932 was a bizarre, month-long military operation where the Australian military was deployed—and ultimately failed—to cull a population of roughly 20,000 emus in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Driven by drought, massive flocks of these giant, flightless birds invaded local farmlands, destroying vital wheat crops and tearing down fences. In response, the government sent soldiers armed with two Lewis machine guns and 10,000 rounds of ammunition, but the birds proved too fast, agile, and resilient to be effectively managed.
The emus won the Great Emu War of 1932 because the Australian military failed to control the large bird population and withdrew.
Chicken Wings Anyone? I’m getting hungry thinking the EMU WAR.
I would never. I would describe my loathing for war as borderline comical. To know me is to recognize that i am confrontational, to say the least of it. I luv to debate and argue, and before i got old i luv’d to fight. However, i have always had a strong sense of self esteem; despite circumstances that have demonstrably left many people feeling less than. So the thought of fighting in a war that i don’t support and didn’t start, well i just never could wrap my mind around that. Those who do sign up to fight out of some deranged sense of “patriotism”, well i definitely don’t understand that.
While i can and will fight if and when it’s necessary, it will be 100% driven by the need to protect myself, my family and close friends, our way of life, and to a far lesser extent, my community and the country in general. I absolutely refuse to fight for people who can but won’t fight for themselves, and that is most people.
So, nope, i won’t be volunteering for any wars, past, present or future. Thank you very much, weirdo!
1821 revolution so i would meet a few of my relatives who apparently did heroic things.
Where was this?
Different points across the Mediterranean Sea.
Got it. Aren't you proud that I at least picked Marathon as one of mine?
Lol. I’m always proud of the stuff you write.
Haha just wait'll you see my upcoming article on Barbara Brown Taylor 😄
Maybe battle of Huê in Vietnam, or siege of stalingrad
Why the Vietnam one?
Urban warfare, mass casualties of civilians and soldiers and insurgents. Exciting shit
William T. Sherman's "march to the sea" during the American Civil War. Sherman had the right idea but didn't go far enough conceptually or geographically. It's a battle I could have made a difference in and changed the course of US history.
I’d rather fight with my fist any battle like in the Braveheart days you’re gonna get your legs chopped out underneath you with a sword if you’ve seen that movie, you know what I’m talking about. It’s just a matter of time and matter of luck everybody so close to each other like that. Swinging their swords around double teaming each other, triple teaming.
The stand off between my great great uncle and the property owner next door. I’d have more land and would have done it correctly…..
