Are you a believer of normally skittish animals trusting you enough to pet them or get close to you means you're super special?

For example cats, pigeons, rabbits, maybe even deer or swans. if any go up near you or even let you pet them do you take that as a sign you're special?

A random kitty let me pet it today. i feel so speshal!

I get approached by animals - including wildlife all the time and even been able to pet them. Always been this way for me. I don’t think there is anything “special” about me. I do at times wonder, “why me?” Strangely I had a few women take interest in me because their pets liked me so damn much. The feeling unfortunately wasn’t mutual towards them … but I liked their pets.


The craziest example was a black bear walking yp to me at my campfire one night and just planting his ass behind me as if we were old pals hanging out. I didn’t have any food going so it wasn’t for that. Next was these two bucks that would hang out with me every Friday evening after work at my old Utah house. That was amusing. They’d graze and I’d eat pizza and drink wine as they ate my grass. Then I had this raccoon who one day sauntered up to me and just started grooming himself by me as if he was ny dog or cat just hanging out. This went on for several nights in a row. Also I for some reason get rabbits that like hopping up next to me when just sitting outside who will hang out for a while before hopping away. This just a few examples.

I hand feed deer here, but they are just food motivated, I'm not a deer whisperer lol

With animals it's so much more than that. They are extremely sensitive and they do have a lot of fear so like any relationship between humans it takes time and patience to develop trust or make it so the animal trusts you. It's not because you're special per se. It's more about the animal trusting that you are strong enough to take control because they depend on you to help them survive and feel safe. So they will see you as special in that sense but only once the work has been done.

No. It's not that they trust you in particular, it's they've just become used to humans in general and have learnt we carry snacks.
