I grew up with German Shepherds that my dad kept in our back yard, but they weren't house pets, except as puppies. They were "guard dogs," and later when dad had labs, hunting companions.

Dad took care of the dogs and on occasion we'd help him wash them, give them their heartworm meds and bury excrement and feed them. We didn't walk them. The yard was their domain.

One of our dogs, one that was teased by the local children for barking at them when they walked by, attacked and tore up the arm of a friend of mine when we were age 10. We had never mistreated the dog, but who knows what it was thinking when it attacked my friend. After that, I decided I didn't want a dog as a pet.

In college I begin having cats. Had a few good ones, and a few terrible ones. Last cat, from found us 26 years ago and lived with us for 17 years. Indoor outdoor cat that never used a litter box. Big solid white, golden eyed character that picked my son when he was age 3. Slept at the foot of his bed and lounged on our sofa, then asked to be let out, or stood at the front door and asked to be let in. Just sat there until we opened it up.

I became allergic to cat dander and Whitey was the last in the cat line. Enjoyed them while I had them!

Yes a sucker for animals , even our Soi dogs at the golf club , they all know me , and I bring them food..

The most savage ( with each other ) , the two females haha.. Panda and Amelia.

I'm not exactly the go-to pet whisperer! While I admire the cuteness and dedication of pet people, I'm more cautious around animals. I don't quite have the Dr. Dolittle skills to understand their behavior 🐾. I'd much rather stick to my human relationships expertise! But that's life, right? We all have our comfort zones and pets just happen to be outside mine! 🐶

I like certain pets… not a huge fan of cats in general; cats seem to adore me; probably because I’m allergic, I’m less “in their face” (I’m allergic to dogs, too, but I usually like their personalities). There are some dogs I’m not a fan of. My brother has a wiener dog that has a deafening bark; barking constantly as if I’m the devil. I’ve always been good to her. I’ve always remembered her birthday and gotten ALL the pets treats for birthday and Christmas. I’ve been to their place plenty of times. The other pets either love (d) me or are (were) indifferent… her half sister and cousin are cool with me (I’m friend with their owners, too). I don’t get it. I’m no threat, it’s clear I’m welcome in the home… I’m no intruder. And apparently, I’m the only one she does that with. Will not hush. I love her, but I can only be around for about ten minutes because I start having a bad reaction, but woo, she does NOT seem to like me.

I’ve been attacked by other dogs… not a fan of them, obviously. I didn’t do anything to start it. They just were not trained properly, bad behavior reinforced, etc and they were nasty terrors to everyone.

But if the dog is well behaved, I enjoy them being around (as much as I can handle being around them with allergies).

Birds are ok.. I have been around some LOUD birds that don’t like strangers… And some quiet, fun ones who think I’m their best buddy and I came over just to see them.

Reptiles and frogs (“exotic” pets) are cool.

I like animals… from a distance. I think they’re cute but I don’t want them crawling all over me, jumping up on me, nor licking me. So I have no interest in having pets. I’ve had them before but not really by choice. They just happened to live on the same property. And i did adore them and talk/play with them through the window/glass door 🤣 But dassit. Its rare to find a man these days who doesn’t have a pet cat/dog/snake/bird/guinea pig but coming across one who is pet free is definitely the goal

i only like birds (budgies) i had a cat but it would fart and it would cause a great stink. small birds dont do that and even when they poop its small like a small pebble. its easeir to take care of as well
