Whatever happened to “if you can’t afford it you just don’t get it”?
Do you people do this with real life items too?
Do you just steal s**t you can’t afford?

Trending & News LOL, you new on the internet or something, or were you homeschooled?
Piracy is taking without legal permission, but not a lot of people do it, as it's risky. But when it comes to movies, music and software a lot of people use dodgy sites to get a "trial" of the stuff, before buying the real thing. If it's what they like.
It's little to do with "cannot afford" and everything to do with "companies need to do better".
Where do you think all this streaming and digital services came from? The original pirate platforms were there to provide people a sampler of the stuff, as the companies would not return physical stuff that you bought but found you didn't like. Eventually the companies caved and started providing their own streaming and digital services - at less cost to physical.
But it opened up the markets to smaller and more niche content creators as well.
Hence it's not as "black and white" as you think it is.
D'uh, to make a job for Johnny Depp...though really, only the first one is truly good...
What?
Pirates of the Caribbean.
What does that have to do with my post
Piracy... pirates... Pirates of the Caribbean... Johnny Depp...
You clearly don’t know what I’m talking about
I do. I'm just tryin' to be funny is all.
I see our usual omnipresent poster is here, responding to every question on the site today yet not actually answering them, as usual.
People will always take free things if they can. It's illegal but the people who get away with it make some money until they're caught and they've decided it's worth it apparently.
Who are you? Wdym our usual omnipresent poster?
Piracy hurts the creator, always. But i can say im guilty of it. But what i used to do was pirate some music or a movie until i can actually buy it (im growing a collection anyway). It would be idiotic if i just used the illegal stuff and thats it.
Just wait until you can get it. Why would you pirate it then buy it afterwards?
Used to. I dont do that anymore. I used to not be able to afford much at all, even food. I wanted a way to have some entertainment until i can physically buy it since it was hard to have enough to buy it. Things are different now.
So you were super poor then?
Most people just accept they can afford it and save up. Well normal people that is
Yeah, i was. Through high school i kept putting applications for different jobs out but constantly getting rejected. My parents were struggling financially as well. Definitley wasn't fun. Im not rich but im more comfortable than i was before, and can afford media that i want. If i want something expensive ill have the means to save up even if its a few bucks at a time
Why did you pirate tho?
Because back then i would wait until Christmas or a birthday where i might have some money given to me from a loved one and then i mainly used it on the stuff i wanted to buy that i originally had pirated.
That does not answer my question whatsoever

Aren’t you the one that is always whining about money?
But I don’t pirate or steal
My only exception is if it doesn’t exist legally anymore like streaming or DVDs. Or for games: if you can still buy it in stores officially (third party doesn’t count) then piracy is bad
Piracy is usually a service/convenience issue.
