I think it’s being able to enjoy my own company without feeling lonely. I love people, but I also love my peace lol.
I can spend hours alone doing my own thing and be perfectly content. I’m also very very observant. I tend to notice the smallest things about people, even when I’m not saying much. And I think spending so much time with myself has made me pretty self aware too. I spend a lot of time reflecting on my own thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I like understanding why I am the way I am, and I’m not afraid to recognize things about myself that I need to work on.
I am pretty much the same. I can be a bit of both. Introverted and extroverted depending on the circumstances but my introvert side always pulls me more simply because that's where I find all my answers. There is a lot to it and it's not so simple to explain fully because my introversion is complex and built in layers.
Yup lol I understand exactly what you mean about the layers… and I think people sometimes underestimate how much goes on beneath the surface of an introvert. I can be super outgoing and social too, but I always find myself returning to my own little world. That’s where I feel most like myself…where I can reflect and process things…and just exist without all the outside noise.
You ever feel like people don’t really see all the different sides of you? I know I do lol they see me one way and expect me to be that way all of the time and nothing else
Yeah I do feel that way. And it's so frustrating to me because most just see what appears on the surface but it's thanks to my introversion that I have been able to really survive and build and learn all the skills as well as revisit my traumas one by one and become the strong person I am today. I had to learn to hold my own hand because nobody else would and I am a fighter that fights silently. And many people just assume that an introvert is an introvert because they don't like people and that couldn't be further than the truth.
You are SO right about the misconception that introverts don’t like people lol! I actually love connecting with people especially on a deeper level…. I just need my solitude too haha… It’s where I feel like I can really hear myself and make sense of everything. And sometimes the people who seem the quietest have been fighting the biggest battles without anyone even knowing
They don’t have to deal with the constant feeling of loneliness and be drained by solitude.
It’s a privilege honestly.
Take it from someone who doesn’t have that privilege.
Yes I have been able to notice that. Perhaps my introversion can inspire you to work on that.
I don’t know if it’s something we can work on.
Experts have long believed that we’re either wired one way or the other.
Of course psychology is an ever evolving science.
Some argue that makes it not a science at all.
So maybe some effort would be good.
I don't think it's so much about changing who you are. It's more about asking yourself important questions and find the strength and willingness to answer them truthfully which isn't easy I know. In my personal opinion I beleive that Loneliness is a something one experiences as a consequence more than it being the illness if you will because the core issue is the fact that you feel a void that no matter what you do you can't ever fill it or if you do it only lasts for a short period of time. And so the question to ask is: what is it that is missing from your life? Why is it that you do what you do? Why is it so important to you to prove to the world that you're worthy? Why do you seek the company of others or the noise to numb out the thoughts? What are those thoughts? Take what you will or nothing at all. But the answers to said questions might enlighten you if nothing else.
The best thing about being an introvert is finding peace away from the crowd. 🤍
You’re the life of the party, Mr. excitement the one and only
You don't need other people to be happy
