In my experience and observations, women are more likely to have good penmanship than men. But i am wondering if that remains true in an age when most people don’t write by hand anymore. Were women’s handwriting skills only better because they practiced more? Or do they have a natural gift for good penmanship?
I do remember reading something somewhat scientific on the subject years ago and it was suggested that women have better handwriting because the language center in their brain tends to be more developed than men’s. Meanwhile, men tend to be gooder at maths but have lousy handwriting.
I will note that the worst handwriting i’ve ever seen and the best handwriting i’ve ever seen, they both belonged to women. To be fair, the worst was my terribly arthritic paternal grandmother. She used to write such wonderful things in my birthday cards. She was also the only person who acknowledged both my birthday and the major holiday that overshadowed it every year of my life.
Truly one in a billion woman. Maybe only one in a million, considering her age.
Well, that was a wild tangent!
So, do you think men or women tend to have better penmanship? Also, do you think that remains true in this somewhat overly digital age?

I think it's more a generation thing than a gender one
That is absolutely terrible! You have a point about the “generation”, and i kind of touched on that in the body of the question. But (way) back in my day, there was a lot of handwriting to be done and females of all ages generally had the better penmanship. My grandma’s poor penmanship was most likely due to her arthritic hands. That’s kind of also why i loved it. She was literally hurting herself to send me love in the mail. I tear up just thinking about her.
I didn’t go into it in the question, but it did occur to me that young women and girls don’t really even use words at all anymore. Everything is emoticons and pseudo-acronym gibberish. I think the ladies’ language centers might be atrophying as a result.
By the by, you did inspire this question. Thank you!
Generally speaking, women. I have encountered one man's writing that everyone around was commenting on though. His was unreal. It looked perfect yet he wrote at normal speed and had no fuck-ups.
Typically women have better handwriting, but some men have good handwriting. I am one of them
