Guys, would you joke around with your girlfriend about having kids when you know she wants to have them?

My boyfriend has joked around once or twice about us having kids. He knows that I really want kids too.

Since he knows that I want a child and he jokes about it, does that mean he's thought about it? I mean, it'd be really mean to joke about having kids if he had no intention of us having any.

I certainly wouldn't. I'd be scared to death my girlfriend would go off birth control if she thought that she could have kids if they just "showed up". Men don't have any abortion or adoption rights, so any man who is stupid enough to joke about having kids is a complete moron and at the mercy of a girl who will take advantage of her. If a man is serious about having kids, he should be talking marriage first. If the girl isn't marriage quality in his mind, then he shouldn't be talking about having kids period. Marriage talks first, baby talks second. That's the way mature men do it.

Most guys I know wouldn't joke about it unless they maybe want kids at some point, and have considered it.

Most guys I know wouldn't consider having kids unmarried. If your age is accurate, he may be thinking 'yeah, I could maybe see that, in 5-10 years'

Depends on how long we've been dating to bring up the kid thing. I wouldn't use kid conversation on her as a part of my game, just because I knew she wanted kids.
