Guys, is dark/black lipstick a turn off?

I go to an 'alternative' bar some weekends , lots of people have colored hair, and are inked all over.

I've really been wanting to wear black lipstick out one night, but I'm scared it could be considered scary, intimidating or off putting .

Would it be a problem to anyone here?

(despite what people sat I'll still be wearing it, but I just want to know opinions :) )

Some think black lipstick is"empowering" and "intimidating" but really it's overpowering and offputting. I can't help but stare at women's lips when they wear black lipstick, even on women with dark skin tones. Dark lipstick colors in general draw more attention to the lips and black, the darkest color there is, draws way too much. And I know it's a hot trend right now, but as a guy, I find it really unattractive. Best case scenario, it looks weird and unbalanced. Worst case scenario, it looks like the lips of a corpse.

It kinda creeps me out. Maybe its because I used to live next door to a gay bar and it reminds me of all the guys that looked like they were wearing brown lipstick when they left.

Very few people can pull off black lipstick in my opinion. I'm all for inked skin and colored hair (I'm actually planning on dying my hair red soon and getting a few tattoos), but for me black lipstick is a no go. It makes most girls look dead, especially if they are very pale anyway. I've noticed that usually the darker the girl is the better chance she has of making it work.

I think black is pretty intense (but could look awesome), and maybe you should opt for a super dark red/brown tone instead.

I actually really like that one! Not as intense as black :) I've worn red before, but it's more of a bold red .

If its a true alternative/goth/industrial bar then it will fit the scene just fine.

I think it can be very attractive and, if everyone there has dyed hair and tats, I doubt they'll mind :)

Actually, I would find it very attractive. Plus, it being an "alternative" bar you'd probably find it would be quite the norm, or at least not taken negatively.

Hell no it's not a turn off, I think it would be really seductive. I have a thing for colored highlights in womens hair too, you should try some red or green ;)

I personally don't care for dark lipstick but I'm also not into the "goth" (or whatever it's called now) fashion style. I'm sure there are dudes who are into it.

Nah it's fine in that sort of environment.

Very dark red probably looks better but go with what you like.

It looks great if you have dark or purple hair and blue eyes. Looks OK but not as good with dark hair if the eyes are dark as well. Looks absolutely awful on blondes in my honest opinion, the contrast makes them seem clown-y.

I'd say that it's pretty creepy. It kind of depends on what you're wearing, I could see it passing if you had a very nice dress on and you were going to something very formal, but not a bar.

I'd have no interest in someone with lipstick like that. Happy, bright colors are attractive. Dark one are depressing.
