I watched Shutter Island last night and I found this quote very interesting and it seems to be quite the conversation starter.

I agree, God gave us violence to wage in His honor.

I disagree, God didn't give us violence to wage in His honor.

God didn't give us anything because He doesn't exist.

I disagree. God did not create anything bad in this world, violence is a sin and sin was brought about bySatan and caused people turning away from and rejecting God. People who profess to be religious and start wars andviolence in the name of religion are not real followers of the faith. I'm Catholic and there is no way God ever wanted any of His people to engage in violence as a way of serving Him.

what he gave us was muscle control and free will which we decided to use in terms of violence.

I don't think that God gave us violence. Violence was a creation by humans, despite humans being a creation of God. God gave us all the ability to choose freely in life the course of our actions, and the occurrence of violence is inevitable when one has an overwhelming sense of hatred, greed and jealousy in their heart.

People seem to think that God must enjoy violence or not care about people because of the many people who die each and every day, but God is not vengeful, nor is God vindictive. God has greater things planned for people, and although we may not be able to understand the bad things that do happen, there is a reason. Imo, God is Love, and at the core of every violent act, there is no love. Therefore, God did not give us violence.

He gave us all the good things in this world. Violence was only created by human beings, out of their free will.
