To Be Good is to both Love and Judge in Righteous Immutability. Think about your Parent (s) Duty to righteously Love , Judge, and exact Wrath for children’s known Best Interest. You parent (s) are exercising a form of human providence within home 🏡

Which Bible did you use there? The specific word is MURDER. Now, that in and of itself implies what Solomon also pointed out: "A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time for peace, and for war."

Obviously, in time of war, the rules get a bit murky. Also, God is sovereign, and can kill whomever He wishes to. But that likewise comes with the implication that we are not God, and should not automatically presume ourselves justified in all instances to assume power over the life and death of others at all times, and without regard to circumstance nor consequence.

Therefore:

- Defeating an enemy in war is not inherently murder. Situational circumstances matter.
- Self-defense isn't murder.
- Defense of one's homestead and property, and family, from an immediate threat, is not murder.
- Execution of criminals by state officials appointed the task, when done in accordance with the severity of the crime and in keeping with what the word of God says actually constitutes a capital offense, is not murder.

Yet:
- Any killing not sanctioned by the above circumstances, is potentially murder.
- Killing the unborn IS murder.
- Shooting your neighbor in the back of the head out of jealousy, is murder.
- Gangbangers killing someone for entering a neighborhood wearing the wrong color jersey is murder.
- Forcing experimental injections on the masses is mass murder.
- Mowing someone down and driving off without regard, is murder.

Also noteworthy, is the heart of the one doing the killing. What is your motive? Accident? Jealousy? Wartime survival? Pure hatred? Class hatred? Justifiable vengeance? Unjustifiable vengeance? Punishment of a horrific crime, as a deterrent to future crimes of that type? Political / monetary expedience? The other commandments help give context to which of these motives is and is not a valid motive.

I suppose at least when he kills someone he is taking them in at the same time, so in a way it is more like he is just collecting them. He just doesn't want his children killing each other.

God didn't want us to eat from the tree of knowledge. Before it we had no knowledge of sin and life was paradise! Because we now had knowledge of sin he had to kick us out of Eden to keep us away from the Tree of life. The Tree of life would give us eternal life. God didn't want us to feel the pain that comes with sin. And because we now knew sin the Tree of life would give us eternal life in sin. God didn't want that for us. That's why God put a Cherubim to guard the entry way to Eden. Not to punish us,, but to protect us from getting back in.. So now we must take a different route to get back to paradise.

I guess what I'm saying. Just get used to the fact that God isn't going to explain everything. But the Bible says "Ask and it will be revealed".
Just understand it will be revealed on God's timeline, not yours. And in his way, not yours.

You can't point these "little" hypocrisies out to anyone heavily invested in their religion because every answer will end in, "because he can," or "because it's his will." But why would it be the will of someone to kill someone when that person/diety has made it clear through his teachings and commandments that killing is wrong. Add to that, if it is indeed wrong, are police/yourselves going to hell for killing people in the defense of other defenseless people? Yup, it's just easier to say accept it as it is written even though there are several issues one might have a problem with---pesky things like slavery, ownership of women, the inaccurate way in which natural history is described that has long been disproved by science, shrimp eating...shhhh, don't tell anyone.

He's telling us not to kill because it is bad for us and creates more bad emotions and problems, the wrong direction... rooted in our fallen emotions. The first one I believe was out of jealousy.

The commandment is "Thou shalt not MURDER", not "Thou shalt not KILL". "Thou shalt not KILL" is a mistranslation. The Bible distinguishes between murder and justified killing. Murder is the unjustified killing of a person. For example, if you walk in on your spouse cheating and kill him/her when they are not threatening your life directly, that is murder. However, if someone breaks into your home, killing is justified because it is self-defense due to you not knowing what the intentions of the intruder are.

I heard/read the most true translation is "thou shalt not murder".
Also, God is not bound by these laws, he is above them and outside of them. We are his creation... whether we like it or not... he gets to judge us.
So a soldier defending his country from invasion who kills has not committed murder.
The gospel, Jesus paying the cost of sin so all humans can be free and forgiven... that was "judgement" on sin. All the sins of all mankind were supposedly placed on Jesus so he could pay the cost/penalty for sin for mankind. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son".

Jesus, his only beloved son, came to the earth to suffer for the sins of the world and died for us so that we could live in heaven with the Father again.
