How long is a reasonable amount of time to go without speaking to your boyfriend/girlfriend?

What is the longest that is acceptable? What if your significant other didn't answer your calls or texts for a solid week?

I'm interested to see if there's a difference in what girls and guys think is too much time without communication.

I would say that it depends on each couple, how long they've been together, their circumstances (long distance relationship, partner in the army, etc.) but for me, it'd be fine to not text or call my boyfriend all day... but I'd be a bit worried if he didn't call or message me the next day! We're not a clingy couple at all, but when you're in a relationship, communication is really important... and if you're in love, not talking for a day feels like torture sometimes. I'd think something was very wrong if he didn't answer my calls or texts for a whole week. If that's your situation, I'd definitely try talk with him about it, and find out if something is wrong... it could be that his idea of how much contact you two should have is different, so it could be good to chat about what both your expectations of communication in your relationship are.

That is up to each couple to decide. But personally, I wouldn't want to go more than a week without talking to my significant other. I just moved away and we talk at least once a week, but sometimes twice. I think it is entirely okay for a couple to go more than a week without contact, but you should both agree on the amount of time you wish to communicate so everyone's intentions are clear and no ones feelings get hurt.

I will say though that if you've been calling and texting him and he hasn't replied in a week, that is a bad sign. Ask him why he's being so rude. Chances are if he's being that way you won't be together for long. It's like if you need a week to yourself fine, but at least have the curtesy to tell me that.

It depends on the relationship. Going over a day without talking to my boyfriend would be strange for our relationship but for other people going 2-3 days without talking might be normally. I think anything over a week is usually a bad sign though for no contact whatsoever.

Depends on the distance between you/what is going on in your lives and how long the relationship has been going on for.

But id say the rule of thumb is 3 days to a week.

In my relationship, we text all day and then see each other after he gets off work. So more than a day without talking and I'd be worried. Actually less that that because I spend the night with him almost every night if I don't have to be at work early in the morning. Throughout the day we'll text a bit and then when he gets off in the morning, he works night shfit, we'll see each other. Been together over a year.
