I want to have a baby. is this normal?

I have been wanting to have a baby since I was 20! I'm 23 now. I am by no means ready, I' still in school and living at home helping my family, but I have been feeling these urges to have a baby for years now!

I was just curious if any other girl has gone through this 'BABY CRAZ'? Or guys, does your girlfriend constantly mention that she wants a baby?

Thanx to everyone for commenting. I by NO MEAN going to actually have one any time soon, I just wanted some input! Hopefully some day in the far (but somewhat near) future I will be blessed with a baby that I can WELL take care of.

It's normal, but it's irrational. Having a baby in your 20's (or even earlier) is in no way, shape, or form and accomplishment. Finnish school, get a decent job, meet someone who is TRULY right for you, get your own house, travel the world a bit, enjoy some personal time, then maybe if you still want it, have a kid. But having a kid, again, is no accomplishment, raising one, is, somewhat. But honestly it would be more noble of you to adopt a child, and if you are doing it for personal self fulfillment, I got to say, there are a million other better things you can do instead that won't cost you thousands and thousands of dollars. Just my thoughts on the whole "baby craze" thing...just three simple words... THINK ABOUT IT.

Women over 30 has an increased risk for miscarriage, birth defects, and pregnancy complications such as twins, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, and difficult labors.

Older mothers are more likely to undergo Caesarean delivery than younger women with similarly low-risk pregnancies.

imjustadude: where is your evidence for this? And surely if you do have evidence for this, it isn't apparent in every case. And you can do most of what I have said by the age of 28 and have a kid then if you truly desire it. It would still be a bit irrational, but if you want, fine. But again, where is the evidence that adopted children are somehow unhealthy compared to those "reared in their birth families"? Just give me the titles of the peer reviewed studies and I'd love to see them

I think it's normal. I'm 24 and I've wanted to have children for a few years now even though I know that I can't yet.

Yes you're a woman it's in your very genes to be thinking of babies. Who wouldn't want their so cute, cuddly, innocent and that one smile can make not only a mother's heart melt but anyone's.

I'm 18, ambitious, still in school, hoping to go onto university and get a degree. And you know what I want a baby. I know I'm too young but if I found a man tomorrow I'll wait till my exams since its my final year, settle down and have a baby. When I see anyone on the road or my cousin's with their little ones I go into a daydream of me with my little girl, with her bob-cut etc.

So its pretty normal only difference is unlike many others you've voiced your concern

Don’t worry it’s normal. Personally me i’m very iffy about having kids of my own, but I do get baby fever when I see my friends with their husbands and babies. Then I realize how much work and money that is and poof it’s gone lol. Becides in olden days hundreds of years ago women poped out kids when they were 13 and up. It’s in our history books, so I feel like that’s kinda where we get some of that from.

That's normal, I also have this desire but I'm younger than you. I also have another desire, but I think it's weird: If I pregnant someday I would love to have my husband kissing my pregnant belly, I think it's so sweet! I have this urge since I was 18.

You are at the age when most women start having babies. It's very common to get urges for having a baby. So, it's totally normal. Nothing wrong with you. You just have to control your urges so you don't end up having a baby at a bad time.

It is normal for young women to want to have a baby. Currently they are being told to wait, until they are so old that they no longer want children. So women are being told to go against their biology. A few hundred years ago you would have had several children by now.

A few hundred years ago half of them would have died soon after giving birth, so would the babies.

Thus they were pushed to marry and get the babies, to have as many babies as possible surviving.

A few hundred years ago girls were 'expendable' (because the parents had to pay dowries) It's still very much like that in India and a bit less so rural China.

Childbirth wasn't that dangerous to women until doctors started delivering babies and spreading infection to the women. The danger had less to do with the woman's age. If it were that dangerous then the human race would have died out long ago. You can trace back not just hundreds, but thousands or years and there are records of young women were still getting married and having babies all the time. Today our technology requires more education, so girls wait longer to complete their education.

Yes, it's very normal. Most women experience that urge at some point...it's natural. That urge, combined with feminism's influence, is partly responsible for the huge problem of fatherless children today.

It is fully normal, it is your hormones still raging. Don't even think about it though, your not ready. You could always get a pet to fill the void, but really you should just accept the urges and dismiss them into you know yo are ready.

It's normal for young women to want children. Had a friend who wqnted children since the age of 18 years old and she had a child at 21 years old.

When that happens the girl usually is craving to be socially accepted as an adult, rather than as an adolescent. That's not abnormal , but is it reasonable? I doubt that.

I don't think it's unusual. There are a lot of girls your age and younger with kids, at least you managed to control yourself. If you have a baby, do it right, make sure the father sticks around and don't screw the kid over.

It's totally normal to feel that way. I've had urges to have babies since I was 16, and I'm 18 now.

You may have urges, but it's best to wait until you're financially and emotionally ready.
