I got a girl thinking I liked her from that same situation. Three weeks ago she was wearing a certain outfit and was talking to her friends that day, later she and her friend were having an argument about a promise to go to a band thing together and I eventually stepped in saying "three weeks ago (repeat conversation) and as proof I told them the nail polish, clothing, and watch she was wearing that day down to a T. It convinced them of the argument but ever since that girls friends call me creepy and a stalker and what not. I didn't like her, but for god sake everyone including her thought I did... This was so many years ago and I remember it vividly down to each persons outfits and accessories. I hated all of them after that incident though.
Smells are the strongest triggers for memory development. He could just be an attentive person. I'm the same way, I'll remember things people tell me about themselves and they always seem shocked after. I don't know why, they told me, and I remembered, it's not a big deal. I'm not sure why he was in your room, but I feel you made that statement out of context so I can't determine.

he could just have a good memory , I remember stuff that happened a couple years back rather easily , some people have better memories than others
