Chubby vs fat vs overweight vs obese?

I'm really confused on the definitions of these terms. I've seen people use the interchangeably and with completely different meanings. So how would you define these terms:

-fat

-chubby

- overweight

- obese

Fat=Obese= link

Overweight= link

Chubby= link

Fat is visual. Someone who looks unhealthily big to the point where they need assistance

Obese is scientific (BMI>30) and visual

Overweight is scientific (30 >BMI>25) and visual. In between fat/obese and chubby, but closer to chubby

Chubby is purely visual. Generally a person who doesn't look unhealthily big ,but is a little rounder than most an also not toned much. Most "average" people have some chub

Chubby is the lesser, chubby can be having slight deposits of fat but not always a bad thing... I'd put the other three in the same category, they all tend to derogatory... although overweight and obese are usually linked to health and what is healthy. Fat is just someone who is overweight or obese, but described in an overly blunt manor. I'd not read too much into the definitions, many people use words they do not fully understand.

Overweight: from 25 to 30 BMI

Obese: more than 30 BMI

Chubby: More than normal but not too overweight.

Um yeah, I work with a lot of overweight patients and see everyone of their bmi's. Both of the overweight women you posted, I'm pretty sure would qualify as obese. The people you labeled obese are way beyond the morbidly obese threshold. That first link looks like her bmi would be around 60-65 but way beyond 30.

Lets put It this way, if you stand naked and you can't see your crotch when you look down, your fat, if you can't see your feet your obese and if your boobs crash south needing a safety net, your really in danger,x

chubby is a few extra 10 pounds

overweight is like an extra 20 pounds

obeses is like an extra 100 pounds

A crude way to describe being obese is if you're at your max healthy weight and gain %17 more weight the person would hit the obese range.
