Would a guy put himself down to a girl he likes?

If a guy puts his appearance down when he's talking to a girl does that mean he doesn't like her? Because I can't imagine saying to some guy I was attracted to that I think I'm unattractive. Wouldn't it be the same for guys?

You're one of the minority then... most relationships I've been in, and also the ones told to me, there's always someone saying they don't feel they're good enough or are not attractive enough to be with their partner. They don't feel they're worthy.

Low self-esteem would be the leading cause for this regardless of sex. I know I for one can spot people that are insecure in their current relationship from a mile away. It becomes painfully obvious by how they fan over their partners and continually seek approval and attention.

So yes, some guys will put themselves down in front of a girl they're involved or interested in, as will many girls. It's incredibly common in my world.

I see your logic, but people are often illogical. If a guy says that, he probably has self-esteem issues, or was trying to be cute in a self-effacing kind of way, or any number of different reasons. So you shouldn't conclude that he doesn't like you from that alone. In fact, you should very rarely conclude that a guy does or doesn't like you from a single action.

He could be doing the male equivalent that some girls do where they want to hear you validate their looks by disagreeing with them. Or he could just believe it and have bad self esteem.

It's a symptom of fear. Common to those who have low self-esteem or are unsure of themselves.

It's possible. The guy might think you're out of his league (you're too good for him, apparently). If you like him, then shake him and say, "Hey! I like you, and you like me! You're my boyfriend now!"
