A New York jury on Friday ordered former President Donald Trump to pay a total of $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll for ruining her credibility as an advice columnist when he called her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.

The jury awarded Carroll $65 million in punitive damages, $11 million for the damage to her reputation and another $7.3 million. Trump is almost certain to appeal the verdict.

Despite the size of the penalty, the verdict was not unexpected. Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled even before the trial that Trump had in fact defamed Carroll. The jury only had to decide how much Trump owed her — not if he was liable. This is the second time Trump has been ordered pay Carroll; last year he was mandated by a jury to pay $5 million for a separate instance of defamation.

Aren't they responsible to some significant degree in many cases?

Would charging them if they didn't do enough to make sure their kids were okay lead to fewer shootings?

The last time I “dated” someone I was 23, we were in a STR for about 3 months & it ended because to me it felt like settling. Since then, I’ve met up with men from dating apps on and off throughout the years. Maybe 1-3 were kind of sketchy, that was in my early twenties too but since then all the other ones were decent but I just didn’t feel them. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue for me to address. My experience is anytime I start to tell or answer his questions about my past, I don’t move from the truth and time and time again he attacks me for it later. He’s convinced because I used to go out on Saturday nights when I was single that I was just having a bunch of one night stands. I’ve actually never even had a one night stand and he won’t let go of the thought that is how I was. I even asked him if I told him my number would he believe me? He told me no. I’ve asked why this is so important when he doesn’t believe and makes me upset what the point is…. And he never has a decent answer. After 4 years this has only become an issue that he brought to my attention over the last year. Thoughts?

I'm not one to be judgmental of people's fashion choices... or at least I try not to be. But it somewhat shocks me how short many women wear their shorts. Not in a "ew they shouldn't wear that" kind of way, but in a "how is that even comfortable" kind of way.

Like in the shorts in the above photos, they seem to have exactly a ONE inch inseam, if even that... and I can't imagine they'd be too comfortable when moving around, sitting down, bending over, kneeling, etc.

Plus, for me personally, I tend to wear boyshorts underwear so I can't even wear shorts that short without my underwear showing...

Just wondering if I dated too soon after my breakup

My boyfriend and I decided to rent a place to stay and split that. We also wanted to spend the night cooking together so I went to get the groceries. I don't work many hours as I am still in school so I want to ask to split it but I don't want to end up looking stingy. I spent around $55 on groceries. Is it too stingy or should I just ask him to split?
