Seriously, why are some conversations "privileged"?

Isn't the greater good prosecution of criminal acts?

Wouldn't it be easier to have a neutral panel or ombudsman familiar with the law to have the ability to waive privilege after hearing the testimony that they are not allowed to divulge but only their decision to waive it or not? Wouldn't that get us closer to Justice?

• Weird question, I guess like if we were talking about dating, and I said to my friend, this girl walking down the street that approached me was pretty, but not my type. Or if a woman said, this guy that works at the store is handsome, but kind of a douche. The last one would be if in conversation, a woman that's in a relationship says "I think so and so is cute, I think so and so is cute, like just telling you about people they work with that they find cute? I ask this because statistically women who are very successful refuse to be with men who earn less than them, While at the same time, Men could not care less about how much a woman makes.
