Different Life Stages

You’re not necessarily going to grow together, You might be starting your career while someone else is winding down. Don’t expect to be on the same page about everything. This can be difficult in terms of relating to one another.

Mixing Friends

While relationships shouldn’t necessarily be determined by external opinions, disapproval by close family and friends can add additional strain to a pairing. What if your friends and family think you’re insane? What if they judge your choices? And you care enough about them for this to bother you. Furthermore, mixing the two groups can be even harder. Friends around both parties might have difficulty relating to one another.

Shared Goals

A huge factor in any successful relationship is having common goals. This can be anything from starting a family to career ambitions.

Sexual Chemistry

Women hit their sexual prime later in life, usually in their 40s, whereas men hit their peaks earlier, in their 20s and 30s. In cases where the woman is older than the man, this can be the main motive for the relationship.

This can be disadvantageous in reverse cases, however, where the man is significantly older than the woman. It can be fun in the beginning, but if you are a woman dating a man 20 years older than you are, you have to worry about him slowing down. Your sexual relationship may be great when he is 45 and you are 25, but when he is 65 and you are 45, he won’t be able to keep up with you.

Life Experience

While every relationship can be exciting at the beginning, you should be mindful of the evolution down the road as a couple. After the excitement wears off, you’re left with who each other is. You’re left with life experience. When one person has drastically more life experience than the other, that can lead to difficulties. It’s not impossible, though. It’s all about setting appropriate expectations at the beginning of any partnership. There’s always a flipside to any relationship. As long as you’re mindful of the flipside, you’ll be okay.

A good number of the guys I've dated have been younger. It's not like I go out looking to date younger men. It just seems to work out that way.
But I do find them easier and more fun, simply because I don't have have the inhibitions or hang-ups I had in my twenties. (I don't miss my twenties at all for those reasons).
Also, guys in my own age group tend to have been burned by women in the past which makes them jaded. *Ugh* I wish these guys would realize I'm NOT just like their ex-wives simply because I'm a woman.
Most of the women I know who date older men, though, are looking for security: to start a family or something.
Just what I've seen in my meager experience...

Age is only a society driven issue. It has other down sides such as on of the couple may end up alone.
I have found on many occasions that age difference can be very enjoyable for both as a young man I all ways found much older woman then me much more confident and experienced. As a late teenager I had 3 lovers in their late 30s and early 40s. Amazing lovers taught me respect for women and how to pleasure them.
It's all so very likely that a younger more mature women seek the same from an older man.

That makes me sad, you're right, I was considering dating someone 20 years old ere than me... but out of respect for his life and goals (he probably wants kids and to settle down) I am thinking of not having kids until I'm 30. I know I will be miserable if I have to spend my early 20s with him wanting to be married, which is a shame because the chemistry is there, I just doubt I can stomach the 60's and 40's phase ;/

It makes me wonder too if he ever turned down a good girl or do most guys at that age regret not giving a certain girl enough attention... Especially if theyre not bad looking with a decent job and dont seem to have a gross personality... Who knows, but good take and I always enjoy your opinions too^^

That first picture ugh. Just because a guy is old doesn't mean he has to look gross looking like that guy in the first picture
I do not date old guys but at the same time some guys who look old look younger than what they are because they take care if themselves, work out

i'd like to add maturity: maturity is not age exclusive, you might find young man with the maturity of an adult, and an old man with the maturity of a little boy.
