If they say no, the worst thing that happens is that you're in the situation you were in before and nothing changes. And you can have cake to comfort you later.

5- No more wondering and guessing.

Not true.
The worst that can happen is that they straight up break contact with you, or that you end up stuck in a painful relationship of unrequited interest with a person whose attitude towards you probably took a big turn for worse that you ultimately decide to break off instead.
If nothing bad happens after you get rejected, my guess is that the involvement from both of you was borderline nonexistent in the first place anyway.

But other than that, I agree.
