Over 3 years ago, I was blessed with the opportunity to go on an amazing school trip to Europe. I was really looking forward to the chance to get away and relax over the March break and see the country :)
Little did I know, another local school would be joining us on our trip, and that before the end of the ten day trip, I would end up falling for the girl of my dreams.
Touring Paris, Provence and Barcelona together really allowed me and this girl to create amazing memories and before we knew it we were hanging out every day. We would always talk and flirt and I'd take every opportunity that I could to look into her beautiful ocean blue eyes. I've never really been a lovey dovey type of guy but things were just so different with her. After a long day of touring we would pretend to fall asleep on each others shoulder in the bus and I could just tell that she had a huge heart that I wanted to be a part of my life.
On the night before my birthday, she met me in the stairwell in the hotel and we waited for the stairs to clear out so that she could give me an early birthday hug. It was the most amazing gift and I knew that the next day was gonna be amazing.
The next day, we went to the beach and picked some seaglass that I would later turn into a silver wrapped charm necklace for her on our anniversary. After an amazing day at the beach, we divide to go get supper just the two of us. We at at a fancy restaurant and got a cupcake to share for my birthday. I had such an amazing time and my feelings for this girl were so strong that I knew I needed something to commemorate the moment. As I mentioned, I was by no means a romantic dude but in that moment I grabbed a napkin and made her a little rose to give her.
After the trip was over and we had arrived back home, she gave me an amazing hug and a note to read for after I left the airport. The note recited songs lyrics that described how she felt. I couldn't believe that a girl like her wanted to keep in touch with me even after the trip.
The very next weekend, I asked her out on a date and we've been happy together ever since.
We now have so many amazing memories that we formed together over the past 3 years and I can't wait to see what the future will hold.
All that to say, that you never know when someone is gonna walk into your life and completely flip it around. I never could have imagined that a trip to Europe would lead me to a best friend and a lover who would make me feel so complete and give me a reason to be a better man.
